Have I Been Here Before? by BradyG

This is a simple platformer where the edges of the screen wrap. That is if you go off the left side, you show up on the right. The catch? After reaching your objective the screen may move (or resize), forcing you to use the same environment in different ways.! This ended up being more like a proof-of-concept because of how short it is, just a heads up.

Controls are left/right arrows to move and 'C' to jump.

Audio is not my own, it was found on https://opengameart.org/content/8-bit-sound-effect-pack-vol-001. Credit to '@Shades'.

I wanted to make something great for this competition. I never really publish any of the games I make because I never feel they are polished enough, and I know for certain this one isnt (or even complete). This resulted in me not really settling on an idea until earlier today/late last night, which is when I started this project. I decided to force myself to release the project regardless of whether I felt it was ready, because otherwise I never end up releasing anything.

Thank you to anyone who gives my game a try, and any feedback is appreciated.

Just marvelous. Incredible idea, great, simple execution. The only thing I didn't like was the jump sound. Good job man.

This is a really cool concept. Genuinely surprising how this opened up puzzle options. Btw the jump key seems to be c not z as in the instructions. Make sure you change this or a lot of people will not take the time to work out the correct key.

Jump sound was a bit high pitched, but the concept is really well done and could very easily be expanded upon.

Wow, very cool idea! It was really fun to think through the interesting puzzles from this very simple mechanic. I imagine the level design for this one took some head scratching!

That was a really awesome game!!! I loved the mechanics of not only looping the map but of adjusting the screen size/location to require an adjustment to my initial thought process. I didn't mind the sound effects but I could see how others could find it a bit rough. Really don't have anything negative to say. Awesome work!!!

That's a really cool mechanic Great take on the theme. I'd say the jump is a bit too heavy. But besides that, this was an excellent experience. Good Job.

This can become a really great puzzle game if expanded upon, the concept is super enjoyable. I did initially get confused with the jump key but not that it matters.

That was some of the best level design I've seen in a jam game. Bravo!!! Very fun, and great concept. I would play more of this if you made it.

I think it fits well the theme. I liked the retro style and the color combination.

I wish there was more. I could do little puzzles like this for an hour, haha! Played it on my stream, here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/762084585
