TRASH OR DIE by anotak

[raw]
made by anotak for LD34 (JAM)
TRASH OR DIE is a shooter where you grow and absorb trash in order to
~destroy the octopi.~
TRASH OR DIE was built in 3 days for the Ludum Dare 34 competition.
TRASH OR DIE requires XNA, the installer is in the zip file.

The theme for LD34 was a tie between Growing and Two Button Controls.
We aimed at both themes, you grow your trashball and you have
two buttons to use, an attack and the growth.
The TRASH is both your life and your ammunition.
TRASH OR DIE.

Really loved it at first, with the beginning screen and then once I started playing still loved it. The whole dropping load of trash just made me go :O But, the main character in comparison to everything else kinda lacked. Also, I was waiting for an increase in difficulty, but I was never greeted by one. Still pretty great game.

Cool concept for doing the growing. Could do with more variety in enemies and movement patterns. It's a bit too easy because you have to intentionally wander into their line of fire to get hit. There also seems to be some lag when the enemies are hit - this might be intentional, but I think it makes the whole experience feel less smooth.

Overall a cool idea that could use some embellishment and polish.

The concept was good, but it looks kind of messy.

You get extra points for “octopi”.
