Rim of Zitra by Listonos

[raw]
made by Listonos for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

We meet an unnamed soldier as he is being interviewed about his strange claims that he got to relive the day of the battle over and over again. As he describes the events of the day the player explores the paths the soldier has taken by swiping event cards left or right. The player has to manage his/her resources, learn about other soldiers and improve his skills even if it would be the end of him/her. Death is a natural part of the cycle so do not be discouraged.

Controls: Mouse - dragging cards left/right + optionally playing the voice over on the cards via play button

i like your idea to rewind and allow for better choices and improve over time. not easy if you are tired from a game jam :)

I got to the end (RIP Alen ;_;)

I really liked the look, mood, and polish of this game. The card effects are sick (Especially the rewind one), and I liked the film grain. I also liked that the results persisted so I didn't have to memorize what happened.

I did find my self skipping the audio logs a lot after the first few and really just focusing on the resources and results at the bottom of the cards, but that might just be because I'm impatient.

The HTML5 version is hanging on the loading screen for me -- anyone else experiencing this?

very good concept. had a bit of trouble keeping up with the story. adding subtitles would improve it greatly.

@ixchow I had previously uploaded a WebGL version that was stuck at 90% because of itch.io and Unity compression not playing along. So depending on when you opened it you have gotten that and maybe retry? Otherwise I have no idea.

@seezogames Didn't even think about subtitles, that's a good idea especially with my English. I will keep it in mind for future.

@magnusfurcifer Skipping the audio logs past the first listen is totally expected. They are just story/flavor anyway.

Great game! Would love to see this with animation/art on the cars to show the story unfolding, while keeping a faster pace than listening to the audio.

Interesting approach. It's a little bit dificult to find out what to do and how swipes affect the stats. Maybe you can add a help screen in the beginning. Also I agree on subtitles, it would be great to have them.
Overall it's a great game and engaging story. Also I dig the graphics.

Interest concept, I think the minimalist interface looks very nice. Like another person above said, subtitles would be nice but I totally understand that would be ambitious given the time frame.

Nice way of turning branching storytelling into 'looping storytelling'!

I am a huge fan of that movie and the original novel it is based on. I've got the reference from the very first slide haha!

Replay in a loop choices you've made is really nice way of beeing stuck in a loop !

Nice game! I really liked gaining some attributes on some of the times through the loop, as well as exploring the possible paths. Made it through to the end! Good job on the voiceovers.

nice way to fit the theme :D it was fun to test the possibilities and the way you can gain ability on past loops was cool too

Good job! I never really understood what my actions resulted in, suddenly I just died and got to try again. But I finished it anyway! For some reason I thought the gray icon to the right was my enemy's health so I tried to get that to 0, but in the end I don't think that was it. :) I believe subtitles would have helped
