menukep.png Welcome to Keep 'em Alive:

The goal of this game is to keep the people of the city alive during the COVID-19 outbreak. Houses: every house has a set amount of residents . The houses will ask for food every once in a while . If you fail to supply them with said food before the timer runs out the house will lose a resident. Shops: you can get food from the shops . Every shop has a set amount of workers . More workers means that the shop can have a bigger stock. Shops periodically restock their supply based on the remaining workers . Infection: Your people can get infected by interacting with shops and houses , or by crowds and airborne viruses. If one of your infected employees gets in contact with a house or shop it will kill one of the residents or workers there.

Protection: By supplying your people with protective gear you can lower their chance of getting infected (Note that buying protective equipment won't lower your chance of them killing the residents and the workers they interact with) Reputation: Reputation increases or decreases the amount of money you can earn after a delivery. You earn reputation after every delivery , and lose it when your people die or they cause the death of other people. End: you lose if the population of the city falls below 30% of the starting population or your reputation drops to 0% or when all of the workers die. Controls: Right Click : place ONE way-point Shift+Right Click: place MULTIPLE way-points Space: Pause Left Click : Select Vehicle (by clicking on it or on its icon on the bottom of the screen ), check the statistics of buildings (residents, workers etc.) Music changes based on how you're doing :v: All art and music was made by hand Screenshot60.pngScreenshot61.pngScreenshot62.pngScreenshot63.pngScreenshot_64.png

Controls:

Move the camera by pointing to either end of the screen or by holding the middle mouse button Choose a vehicle, by clicking on it on the map, or on the bar at the bottom Set destination for the selected vehicle by right-clicking on the map, shift + right-click sets more waypoints. The vehicle will follow the waypoints in the order that you set them View house and shop stats by left-clicking on them.

Space: pause all movements

Fun game! I found the map a bit too big and so it was kinda hard to keep track of all the houses. Good job:D

I really like the idea and how it's done but I feel like it's a bit overcomplicated, it's difficult to keep up

A bit hard to control the veichles and moving the camera with the middle mouse button is strange, as it goes the opposite way of what I expected. But it was fun, hood job :)

Really cool concept!
Took me a couple of attempts to understand how to exactly get supplies and deliver them. I was clicking next to the shop/house instead of exactly on top of it, so I was driving there but nothing was happening and a few people died. :see_no_evil:

It can get a bit complicated quite fast, but it's a jam and balancing is always a tough one to conquer, so overall, really good stuff!

@bredcrumb I see, thanks for the feedback! It was supposed to grow as the player progresses
@dario-sanchez I agree, on the post-ld version, there will be a tutorial to make sure the player knows all mechanics well. Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback!
@pandasekh Oh, okay, I'll change that in post-ld, thanks for the feedback!

I like the overall idea, the controls are a bit buggy... My 2 cars worked perfectly fine, but I bought a van and a truck and they wouldn't move, when clicking on a destination the mouse just dropped a blue rectangle on the map. Nice job on the mechanics though!

I have a bit problems maneuvering the vehicles, but I found the complexity add a cool depth to the game ^^

A little buggy - I also had problems with the van and truck not moving, but I enjoyed the concept. With some refinement it could be really good! Thanks for the game! :)

The game is cute. I've been stuck in menus, and did not really understood at first what I have to do! Tutorial are importants. Nice entry!

Cool entry with some good depth. I reckon an instructional video would really help because I understood the concepts but didn't really understand how to play. Good entry though, nice work!

This is great! What would make it even better is a drag-to-move camera (and one that doesn't scroll the browser page while it's at it), and some way to directly see if there's food in a vehicle as well at the number of residents in a house. I contend that might make it easier, which may not be by design.

Also, for other people: it's not listed in the controls section but you can zoom with the scroll wheel :)

@echo-team First, thank you really much for the feedback! A tutorial should really be added, because you actually can follow the food count of the vehicles, when you hover over them at the bottom (The "Storage" shows it, the number of shopping bags indicated). A better camera control is in the plan! Thanks again!

I found it really hard to know what to do when starting and had to look at other comments to find out what to do - a tutorial would be a good way of fixing that. Once I had understood what to do I found it was actually a really fun game good job!

Good concept, graphics but I agree with the others it got too complicated and hard very fast. Especially as the controls weren't so handy. I couldn't really try anti corona and items as I desperately tried to control my vehicles.
I think maybe some automation could help a lot to switch from manually send cars to each house to a higher level of controlling our company.

I like the idea of this game, the mechanics are very intricate and the gameplay is quite challenging!

Unfortunately I found that I was overwhelmed from even before the game loaded, the big wall of instructions and specific details were quite a lot to get through before playing. And once the game loaded, was still overwhelmed due to the size of the game map! (Zooming out did help but still)

I feel to help this game reach its full potential either it needs to be simplified or have the mechanics brought in gradually to help ease the player into it all.

This is an ambitious and very well thought out game. I really enjoyed playing and I think you are onto something great here!

It's a nice optimization game. You would improve your game with some utility functions. I couldn't really check the time left when I zoomed out. Would be much better if you scaled the font size with the zoom level if the fixed font size was your intention. Neat graphic and nice path finding.

Nice, quite complex for a jam game.

Nice concept for a game. Art imitating reality and all of that. I really like the music and the graphics. I also like that the music changes when the situation gets more dire.

A tutorial of some sort would help reduce some initial frustrations. I spent a lot of time just trying to figure out what to do.

I think knowing how much food a vehicle has before going to a house would be a good addition. It was a bit frustrating when I got to a house only to discover I didn't have any food to give.

fun game. Controllers are a little complicated to handle, like zoom and map movement, besides that it was very well done, and lot of content for a jam, congrats

Really confusing, I tried to control the game for about 2 minutes, but didn't figure out how to play at all. Clicked on everything, dragged.... a manual in the beginning would be nice. No money to buy a vehicle...

@eugenik The controls are on this page, the itch.io page and in the game "Help". But I agree, that a tutorial is needed. That will be added in the future, after Ludum Dare. Didn't have time in the 3 days.

Man this game fits this year and the theme as well lol. It's kinda fun and interesting idea tho. It's pretty easy at start, but the more you play the harder it goes. And the music changes when It's getting harder and that's a good one. I think I have an idea, how about turn this game into 3D, that way we can save people by bringing them into the vehicle with 3D thirdperson perspective, I know it sounds crazy... but anyways such a nice game!
