Little Sunshine by Bloham

[raw]
made by Bloham for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

This is not just the first game project for the LDGame Jam but also the first game I ever release and the first game I showed to the public, made entirely by myself! The theme was Keep it alive. You have to nourish the little sunshine with water and sunlight while defending against hordes of evil bugs! Stay alive for two minutes and win the ultimate price :)

It was a fantastic experience creating this game for the last 48 hours! I know that this game is not perfect and I know so many things to improve. Still, I would love to hear your opinion on it and recommendations to improve "little sunshine" enjoy playing! Little Sunshine 2.PNG

I liked how tactile everything felt, and just the clicking of the icons was pleasant. I'm not sure the effect the bugs have on the sunflower so I might give the player more indication of that, but clicking on them is attractive. I died three times, but wasn't sure what I did wrong, so maybe give a set of bars or some visual indicator of my flood/sunshine. Super cute game, and fit the them perfectly! This is a great first game!

Nice little game - I liked the 2D over low poly 3D look too. A status indicator what the current water/sunshine level is would be nice, though. Good job!

A really cute game! I liked the art a lot :D Having some more feedback as to how healthy my plant is would have been nice. Good job!

Awesome! This game felt really comfy, here are my notes:

**Things I liked**
- very beautiful art
- interesting touch with spinning environment
- cool idea, fitting the LD theme

**Things that could be improved**
- some nice sunshiny background music would improve atmosphere of the game
- At times I wasn't really sure if raining/sun had any effect on the flower and her needs very changing unexpectedly

Overall I enjoyed it, you did great job in such short amount of time

I really like the graphics. The low poly and the 2D art look great together.
The environment was well put together.
The bugs looked great.

The rain/sun buttons could be a hold instead of repeated clicks. The player is already clicking around on the bugs, this would be a little rest for their click finger.

@xeke-death thats a great Idea! thank you! Originally I wanted to make a 3D Sun and clouds in the background and let them work as the buttons. But the problem was that I could not hold them (Probaply because of the moving camera) Or I did not understand the programming too good xD But holding the button is so simple and good and easy to implement that it worms me not to though about it yesterday xD

Cool graphics, I enjoyed them a lot. Hillarious sounds on the sun and rain button, overall a neat game.

Congrats on finishing your first game :) It's gorgeous and it is very pleasant to look at. Clicking on the flies and on the weather felt satisfying. For the next tie maybe add a health bar for the plant.

Don't know if that was intended, but flies can moonwalk like Micheal Jackson (or moonfly? :D) Additional humor point for that :)

Some flies appear to be spawn from the flower. Is this intentional? Besides, it's a nice game.

What a delightful game! Makes me happy seeing a smile on that flower's face

The first game I played had the flower die due to too much sun, even though the flower was asking for sun. Maybe I clicked the button too much? Probably. Either way some more indication that what I'm doing is helping would be nice

Its a really polished game. Everything from the background changing to the little animations of the flower were all well done. I wish there were more tasks that needed to be completed rather than just clicking buttons, but those buttons were fun to click, so I'll give you that. ;)

Keep it going, what about move it to a never ending clicker mobile adventure? Unlocking flowers, demands and enemies along the way.

good job dude! I think your art style is simmilar to mine :v:
A high score that shows how long the player survived could improve the game in my opinion.
keep it up!

I think the scene setup is kind of neat with the perspective and all. Don't forget to set a layer for your sprites (unless this was intentional)

The flower is so funny looking! I like the 2D art and 3D scene in the background.

This is really impressive for your first game!! I liked trying to balance the rain and sun and killing the flies. I did die from drowning even though my flower was DEMANDING more water. I dunno if it was a bug or if i misunderstood the game.
