Harvest Season by singleshoe
Looks like the weather has been kind lately, and we're due for a bountiful Harvest Season. Put on your hat and get ready to get your hands dirty, because the crops are not gonna harvest themselves!
In this card game you'll need to decide which cards to play, when to risk harvesting early, and which crops to abandon to the weather.
All criticism is welcome! Let me know your thoughts :)
Hope you have fun!

Took some time to nail down the mechanics, but it was fun figuring it out.
Wish I could have seen the max size of the crops after they were planted.
Some crops didn't seem to work in some tiles and I wasn't able to figure out why.
The art style is charming.
Really impressed.
Well done!
@seriouslycrunchy @lcstark Funnily enough I actually went in a different direction for a while. You had to play the 3 cards each turn, but you could also draw a hand of just tools with no crops to use them on, so you were stuck. I changed it so you drew up to two tools per turn, however that made tools so rare that it made the game extremely hard, so I reverted that and added the skip turn functionality. Having a way of regaining hearts and adding hitpoints to the crops sounds like great ideas too!
@liam I'm so glad you liked the audio, it was the thing I was most anxious about making myself. Ended up going outside and leaving my phone recording for a while haha. Is it possible that the problem was due to trying to place a crop next to a full bed of crops of the same type? That's something that I feel the game doesn't explain as well as it should.
@mincho @johnjoemcbob @loig Thanks a lot for your comments! I'm glad you liked the game!
I managed to get 379 points on my best run. Then I got too greedy and died.
I also lost a few health points by accidentaly not spending all my cards. I know there is a warning, but maybe a confirmation popup would be nice to avoid doing mistakes.
I like the graphics, and the background sounds, and it fits the theme really well.
Great job !
I like this, would love to see what it could evolve into.
Are you supposed to be able to place outside the boundry?
@zwodahs @spthiel Thanks a lot the feedback! The game definitely lacks difficulty at the moment (and you can also get a bad start that guarantees losing) so there's a lot of room to improve just there.
I had a great time building it and got really into the game idea. Given that plus the warn reception it's gotten here I am planning on transforming this into a full game. I'll post updates on itch.io, so follow me there if you want to check it out once it's ready/in progress :)
But once you understand the trick, it becomes very easy. You can maybe add bonuses or events sometimes to make the game less "linear".
Thanks a lot for your feedback, and I'm really happy that you liked it :)
Like: Making decisions about what to play. The geometry thought process that goes into sprinklers. The cards were easy to understand. I liked having to do a trade-off between grouping like vegetables together vs. the price. Not knowing whether I would be able to harvest or not added some risk.
Suggestions: Wasn't clear how the sprinkler chooses what to water when there wasn't enough water to go around. As a gameplay prototype though this was a great job and it's really easy to imagine that with art and polished animations it could be super!
