Description:

You awaken in a strange hut, with an unrelenting desire to create a roaring inferno! Explore your island and collect fuel for your fire to keep it alive. Find unusual fuel sources and meet new "friends" to interact with.

Playtime around 10 - 20 minutes, Enjoy!

How to Play:

After you start the fire you'll have to feed it more or it'll run out of fuel. Almost anything works.

You have three variables related to the fireplace on the UI: - The experience bar: This tells you how close to leveling up you are. Leveling up unlocks content! - Campfire fuel: Under the bar you have a number that tells you how much fuel your fireplace has. If this reaches 0 you lose! - Campfire decay rate: This tells you how much fuel you lose in a second. This value increases linearly so you will lose more fuel as time Goes on!

Good luck!

Tips:

You can break grass with your fists!

Start by breaking and burning everything you can!

Examining things can give tips!

There's always a viable fuel source available. Try exploring if you current fuel doesn't give much experience!

Walkthrough:

Only read if you are stuck! This contains spoilers to the whole game!

I must be bad I did not find the ax, but hey I had already struggled to find the torch to light the fire.

Nice entry. Generates a lot of panic as the decay per second timer goes up haha. Thanks for the game.

@flaviat No worries! You need to start be cutting the grass and feeding it to the fire. You will be rewarded for leveling up the fire place.

This was awesome. The graphics really clicked with me, the sounds were perfect, the music fit good as well. The gameplay loop was pretty rewarding. Overall I really liked it. The ending was a nice touch.
The only problem I had, was that at the beginning I didn't really see the weeds and knew it could just collect them to burn. But on the second try I finished the game.
I also managed to clip through a wall into a house by accident, but couldn't reproduce it. Aside from that I didn't notice any bugs. Really great work!

Pretty nice!, the game was solid and i really liked how the fire gave you the tools. Didnt quite beat it :/ though i can see that you put a lot of effort. Overall, Really good!

Really nice game! I liked it
Although I would like to keep the progress where the fire increases the level, since if I die it would be the same task I have to do again to reach the level

As other commenters pointed out, I also didn't find the ax. I would have really loved to explore more of the world (especially the people and forbidden areas) but the fire died before..
Nice work, nontheless!

WOW!! I didn't expect the game to turn that way on the last phase!! xD
I really enjoyed the "adventure" part, with the exploration and stuff. Very well done! :)

I really like this entry. Furthest I got was putting a bucket of refined oil into to the fire. The fuel consumption rate was a bit too high for me, though, I really had trouble getting enough fuel in time. Night time was a little too dark. Exploring the island is fun! I love how you have to figure out how to fit things together. The atmosphere is great, the way the fire talks to you is nice and creepy -- you just want to see what happens next.

Nice game, the graphics were pretty meh but it was pretty fun to play, although maybe a bit too easy once you understood. One thing that I liked was how you as a player were forced to explore not because the fire forced you but because you were desperate for finding fuel. I don't know if you made the backgrond melody yourselves but I really liked it, I was however gonna give the game a bad mood score, until I met the final boss which was truly epic. You guys should start making bossfight games.

oh wow this one is a treat. I was sucked into it until I started the rock stage and I couldn't get anything to place onto the fire. Maybe a mechanic I missed? The depth at which I think this game goes looks promising -- especially for a LD game. Just wish I could get past the rock stage. Pretty intuitive gameplay and controls. Thanks for making this!

This is really nice fun game, the gameplay is solid and the art works well with it and the audio  Would have been nice if you could have used the num keys to change slots as well though as it is really hard to use the scroll wheel on a track pad

@jamie-slowgrove Thanks! The game actually supports switching slots with the keys 1-5! (although the numpad doesn't seem to be supported  )

I got stuck trying to figure out how to fill bucket with oil. And then the fire died :(

Nice, well polished game overall. Timer was going a bit too fast, at least for me. I couldn't explore as much as I wanted to, because I needed to speedrun for fuel.

Cheers!

When it gets dark it takes me more time to find trees or coal, and it dies so quickly! I know it burns down quicker with time but arn't trees or coal keep it a little bit longer than grass? Overall, good game!

Nice idea, however the game mechanics are all over the place, everything is about to click, but unfortunately I couldn't finish the game because of those little dissonances. The frenetic pace of fuel usage makes hard to enjoy and perceive the game as a exploratory metroidvania (that also tries to be), combat is awkward and life short (I need to wait for new hearts <> I need to rush), I'm not sure what the day night cycle adds to the gameplay, the inventory is a bit too restrictive, combination of 2D and 3D. I had fun, but I believe this game could be much greater, if those rough edges are polished. Also a detail is that the bushes are hard to spot, and I missed them the first two times. There is a ton of potential, but for me it lacks focus. Good job and keep working!
