I think the game has good pace on the escalation from clicking a single meter to having to manage all resources and barely keeping up. The music speeding up is a really nice effect to go along with this!
I like the visuals especially the colors and shape you chose for the cat. It's 'off', cute but also a little sickly/suspicious looking.
I'm not sure about this, but it seems some Needs take longer to perform their action when clicked than others? If this is the case, I think it would have been nice to include some way for me to see the 'cooldown' display, because I often find myself mashing on a button waiting for it to light up again.
Also there appears to be a bug where playing multiple runs in sequence will inflate your score (it keeps getting incremented without being set to 0 between runs).
Game is really well done, although a bit hard to manage
Also, wanted to make it so that when you replay and get 5 more seconds on your highscore, it feels like a meaningful step up and since the games are so short, the "Just one more game!" is tempting.
There's no win scenario. It would just be boring to be able to keep going forever. The challenge is to find the rhythm to maximize the time you can stay alive and beat your own score.
It's not OCD people friendly: "a management game where you can't win" haha but imo it was the best way to make a real-time tamagotchi not dreadfully long and boring.
My cat died after 81 seconds because I didn't teach him well. Poor kitty.
At first I was like "this looks suspciously easy", but as soon as I got to manage 3 tasks...
When the 6 were unleashed, I had truly arrived in hell.
Very fun game, simple but super effective. The graphics are really great, and the audio is nice.
Overall, a super strong entry. Congrats!
Keep up the good work and see you next Ludum Dare!
