Nice submission! The interface and graphics are very clean, I appreciate that.

I had a really hard time playing 1P, I think the computer is very strong. :P I think it's a good little twist on air hockey type stuff - suggestions for improvements I have:
* It's a little hard to see the timer bar in the center of the screen, though I do appreciate it's there.
* Maybe a bit more celebration / sound on each score would be cool? Doubly so if the characters "move back" to their starting position rather than just teleporting.
* Is there any downside to sprinting constantly?

Grats!

Nice, simple but effective competitive game. Docked points for lack of soundtrack. I could see a few more mechanics being added to create some serious depth and this could be very Videoball-like. Nice work!

A fun little game! The controls work surprisingly well. Perhaps some charge up shots or different shot strengths. Could use some music and point score sounds, match reset sound, etc. A dash capability would be really fun. Overall, well done!

Hi, thanks for the feedback. :)

@sayumeki It's important to be able to see the timer easily, otherwise it's a lot more difficult to play the game well. I might think about making it more visible. About sprinting, you cannot do it constantly. Players have limited stamina that regenerates when you're not sprinting(indicated by the inner circle that shrinks/expands). Sprinting only works when you have enough stamina, the idea being, you need to be strategic about when you use it.

@arity I was not aware of Videoball, I'll check it out. From what I see, it seems a bit slower-paced and more complex than what I was going for. Also, I thought about adding different court layouts to add more variety, I think something like that might be interesting.

@manadream You can kind of do a "charge up" shot now, using sprint and your momentum. But yeah, adding more variety would be nice.

I didn't have much time to think about music, because I got hung up on other parts of the game, but I don't really mind not having background music. I think it kind of works well with the game.

Really fun game. The graphics and sound were minimal but just enough. I'm not entirely sure how this related to keep it alive though. Still, good game.

@enya454 Thanks. :) You need to keep the ball moving constantly(i.e. keep it alive), otherwise you lose points. It's only slightly related to the theme, but I liked the idea, so I went with it.

I love it! It looks fun and addictive. I like the fact it supports local multiplayer. I also like the design. Great job. Keep it up!!

It's a nice game, I like the visuals and the controls. My only issue is the AI can be too unfair sometimes when it decides to camp at the complete edge of the court so that the player's timer doesn't reset. Otherwise it was pretty good.

@matsuya Thanks, I tried to make the AI as active as possible. It should more or less be constantly moving, either going for the ball or retreating in a defensive position. Are you talking about the top edge, or the middle of the court? The AI shouldn't really be camping anywhere, so that might be a bug.

@fancypants The AI stays stuck to the middle of the court, or the bottom of it's court to be precise, so whenever I kick the ball it never reaches his court and goes back to mine, resulting in my timer not resetting. I still appreciate the effort put so that the game doesn't suffer from a lazy AI, so maybe if there could be a limit for how long the AI can stay at the bottom it would make the game fair

Dude I got sucked in trying to defeat the AI :D This is perfect game for a break on University or during lunch time at work. Great job!

Nice game but it's really difficult. I couldn't get a single point against the ai. Also, maybe give the ball a bit less drag. Overall though, really cool idea. Could be very fun if you continued to work at it.

@convg Thanks. I guess the AI's more fun when you get used to the game/controls a little bit. I thought having easier AI would become boring more quickly, so that's why I made it a bit more difficult. I'm thinking about adding multiple difficulty levels in a post-jam version.

@fancypants That sounds pretty good. I think difficulty levels will definitely make it easier to progress.

That stupid red circle keeps making fun of me >:( . But seriously, even though i'm bad at the game it's still really cool great job! ^^

Congrats for the submission! Had some tough time with the IA.

Simple and fun to play. But very difficult to beat the AI. I found it difficult to play with keyboard (mouse control may be helpful ) .

Fun little game. The game works quite well, and it feels complete. I do feel like I was thrown straight into the game quite quickly though, and would have liked to have a simple tutorial level where there was no AI and I could just practice shooting the ball around. Also would have liked to have different difficulty settings for the AI. Doesn't have to be any complex code. Just call the AI you currently have hard, and then you make easy and medium where he simply just moves slower.

Playing alone, I lost 10-0 two times in a row before starting scoring a little. The game mechanics are great, your game is very well polished and the difficulty makes it challenging enough so that I wanted to play again even though I'm pretty sure the bot was making fun of how bad I was.

Wow, this is the kind of game that makes me jealous. It's a simple yet perfect idea. I really think you should keep on with this game, maybe "humanize" it, improve the visual personality of the game but the idea is great.
Also you should make the IA a little bit easier at first, it's pretty difficult

Hi, thanks again for your feedback :). Regarding the difficulty of the AI, I'll definitely think about having a better onboarding experience if I make this into a bigger game.

@bulent-altinay I think the game will play best with a controller, actually. I might implement this in a future version.

@luckyfeathers The way the AI currently works is, it has the same movement as the player, and just simulates input for each frame(e.g. act as if the right key and shoot key are pressed). I like this approach, as I think having the AI move differently than the player might feel weird(unfair even?). So, for adding different difficulty levels I'll probably just make smarter/dumber versions of the AI.

Nice game. With great concept, and very polished. I really like that you can also player the game with 2 player. The AI is also a little bit difficult, but the difficulty is not a problem, as the game is still fun even with that.

Played 1P, got completely destroyed by the AI, though I did score once at least. I can imagine it'd be lots of fun with two players, but even consistently losing in singleplayer it was still kinda fun trying.

I wasn't sure if sprint had a cooldown - if it does, maybe some kind of visual indication could be added to the player (e.g. motion blur). The "ball is in your field timer" was a bit short for my taste, many times I'd lose due to the ball just not having enough momentum and barely making it to the edge.

Nice entry!

@blay09 There is a cooldown for sprinting, in a way, and there is an indicator for it. Players have an inner(brigther) circle and an outer(darker) circle. The inner circle visualizes your current "stamina level"(shrinks when you sprint and expands when you don't). You can judge how long you can sprint by looking at that.

Very fun game and nice visuals. Simple, but enjoyable. Also, reminds me of my current project.

Lots of fun for two player but the AI is just too darn perfect for single player haha, I don't have those reflexes. 🤯 Feels and sounds good! Nicely done!

Really digging the simplicity of it! I got totally handled by the AI, haha. Would need to practice a fair bit more to get the hang of the momentum mechanics. Crisp execution overall, well done.

Well done for this submission !
I really try hard to finally beat the IA, very competitive one, well done a lot for making it !
