Baby: Don't Hurt Me by Eroar

[raw]
made by Eroar for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

„During your research of an abandoned laboratory, you stumble upon a baby. Reasoning that this is not a place for a child, you decide to get it out of there. The question is: can you make it?”

„Baby, don't hurt me” is a sci-fi themed platform game that will test your skill and your mind. Your task is to transport the baby through the levels, without letting it (or yourself) die. Before you start your adventure in the laboratory, you should get acquainted with some of the games features:

  • Cables: trough loose cables flows a dangerous current, which in high doses can be deadly. You should never let yourself or the baby touch it.

  • Robots: the leftover watchmen of the laboratory will try to eliminate you. Try to avoid them at all cost.

  • Tunnels: there are some places were the baby can fit, but you can't. You can drop there the infant to make your journey a little bit easier. Don't worry, it's perfectly safe.

  • Jump boosters: those are special devices that allow you to reset you jumps and achieve great heights. Use them to get through levels quickly.

  • Levers: use them to activate devices or to get access to new areas. It's very helpful.

That's all I wanted to tell. I hope you will enjoy the game as much as we enjoyed creating it. Hacka-team thanks you for playing the game. Lets see if you can get the high score ;).

Fun puzzle platformer! I got as far as the level with the three jump boosts, but found them frustrating to interact with.

Maybe if I'd gotten farther, I would have understood how carrying the baby impacts gameplay... seemed like it did nothing except for the theme in the early levels.

I did NOT expect a platformer with this theme! The music really drove home this title. Player character was a little loose which made some of the levels a little more difficult than I think they should have been but having to maintain the baby is a genius compliment to this entry. Well done!

I really like the player animations, they're very realistic especially with picking up the baby. Nice jb on persevering through with making 2 different animation for every action, with baby and without.

A really good platformer that was fun to play that I enjoyed a lot, though i feel the baby (which was a really cool idea) wasn't used enough and I found I was just taking the baby with me and there was no point dropping it. Still a good game that I enjoyed a lot.

Very nice little puzzle platformer! I feel like the jumping was a bit fiddly. The jump force should be increased a bit or the jumps required made a tad shorter/lower. Now it is really tricky to get on top of some of the platforms or to clear some of the gaps. Overall really nice work!

The movement was a little too slidy for me, but was pretty fun once I got passed out.

I love the bend down animation. It's a nice touch when pressed for time.

Interesting game concept, however I think this is a game where you HAVE TO provide controller support, as having to navigate a platformer with a keybard can feel really.. 90ies like, an I don't mean the good 90ies ;)
Tbh, the second level with this hard to manage jump was simply too frustrating, because keyboard controls are never accurate enough. I tried it a good 20 times with the baby and never made it (without the baby about half of the time) which is a pitty because I wanted to play more! :(
The level design and graphics looked nice so far :)
Nevertheless good job, congrats on finishing your gamejam entry! :)

Nice little platformer. Love the detailed baby pick up animation. The idle animation is a little bit awkward though, looks like the lady is urgently looking for a toilet :D Controls are a little bit too "slidy" for my taste and I don't understand the hearts at the top of the screen. When you die the current level restarts, the hearts never change. But still a very solid game, congrats.

Nice character animations. The concept of taking care of a baby is well in the theme. Perhaps a lack of special event with the baby. The movements of the character are a bit tough. But it's nice to made many vary level in a Jam :)

Nice graphics and music! And while I like the concept, it seems that you quickly abandoned both the "puzzle" part of the platformer and any interaction with the baby? The controls were a bit too floaty and slidey and I think the collision for staying on platforms could be improved, especially considering how many precise jumps on small platforms need to be made. Props on the level variety though. Good job!
