Therapy by ZEZEL

[raw]
made by ZEZEL for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

title.png

Welcome to our game called "Therapy" ! We are a group of high schoolers in senior year trying to have fun developing a game all together in spite of the quarantine. This is our first time developing a game and participing to this kind of event and we are really proud of the outcome of it !

This game is made for the 46th Ludum Dare as theme 'Keep It Alive' and since we are all in the scientific pathway, we made a game related to science !

In our game you're a kind of 'antibody' coming out of a liquid injected to a person with a syringe, the goal is to survive, to keep it alive as you can guess ! It's goal is to save that person from an unknown virus by destroying the differents infected cells in the body. We don't wanna spoil you anything about what's in our game but we would really appreciate to have a critical feedback !

Please leave a comment to tell us how you liked it, don't forget to rate it and share to your friends or family if you appreciated our game !

And we hope you'll like the death screen because you'll see it very often trust us  .

Hey there, interesting idea! I liked the concept of being a cell trying to keep someone alive. Lil Osmosis Jones action. Things I would change about it are the audio seemed to be exceptionally loud and it's crazy hard! haha maybe just have the timer be longer. I only got to the third checkpoint :'(
If you get a moment, check out my game! I'd love to get some critical feedback. :D

We are sorry to hear that the MacOS build is broken, since none of us works on a Mac we weren't sure if the build for MacOS would work, we will try to figure out something ! Sorry for the inconvenience :(

Wow, there's a lot in this game. It is indeed very hard - I made it to the second "real" level, eventually. Timing jumps was difficult because the character had no connection with ground, so I couldn't tell when I was going to run out of platform. A common feature for platformers that might help with this is "coyote time", where the player is actually still allowed to jump for a few frames after they actually run off a platform. I liked how jumping and landing felt, though.

Nice idea. The controls are a bit loose. I'm not a big fan of this kind of art style but it works in this scenario.

I really like the idea, and the floaty jump actually makes perfect sense in this game. The rounded CRT effect was cool but not really sure what this was trying to convey. There were points where I didn't know where to go or what to do and at one point I jumped into a pit and died because I couldn't see the spikes.

The audio was great and the music was very fitting. I also loved the graphical details such as the character bobbing up and down.

All in all, a nice little game!

I'm impressed! Good job! Controls could get some polish but overall it was an awesome game jam game. :) Very topical too in these times.

Nice game and totally relevent, however, the character control felt too loose for a platformer

Nice little game, I agree with most comments, controls are a bit loose so no real physics feeling and some hard to guess hitbox. Thanks

A good game overall. Nothing innovative, but it was interesting with the adaptation to the history of the virus. A tip for those who made the soundtrack: It doesn't matter if the track is simple and with few channels, avoid me too short loopings. This causes the music to become irritating and the player to turn off the audio. Make trails with a minimum duration of 45 seconds.
Let's go to the cure !!!

Congratulations for the game.

This is a good game and even better considering that was your first. Made me happy that I can see you give special attention to audio. Even though that short looping was making me tired. Dont know if I reached the end of the game, I climbed to the top, but theres nowhere to go. Congratulations for a very good game in your very first jam.

Hi! Good job for your first game jam!!! I liked the concept but It's quite difficult to control the character. Also Take care the contract between the animated character with the black outline and the rest of the enviroment that hasn't this outline. It feels like two artist working on their own. However, good job, congratulations.

We streamed your game with Danae: [link to Twitch VOD](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/598538752?t=01h16m40s) (approximate timestamp)

Nice job, well done on finishing a game with such a large team for the first time. My biggest issue with this one is probably the physics. The platforming is a bit floaty (although it behaves better than many "floaty" LD games). The fact that the character literally floats above the ground really doesn't help! This, combined with the slightly too large hitbox made for some (IMHO) slightly unfair platforming challenges. On the other hand, there was a nice variety of types of platforming challenges – timing, moving platforms, spikes, winds, rising lava.

I’m extremely bad at platformers, so I couldn’t get very far jajajaj but what I could see was a very polished experience! well done! :D

@lairinlair feel like u went to the top left corner of the "bladder's level". Then u were supposed to go to the right(yes it wasnt obvious, litlle mistake, ups). And it left 2 other level more the final screen ;)
And ty for the return!!!

When I first played the game I was just shocked by how you guys managed to make such a good game in 72 hours! :D The graphics are awesome and so does the sound. Everything I looked at in this game was really polished and well made.

Amazing job! :)

Nice graphics, the jump controls felt a bit floaty but maybe that was intentional! The game froze after I went into a spike repeatedly when respawning by accident too, luckily it was close to the start though! Overall, really good jam entry!
