House Party! by HyperBabyDuck

[raw]
made by HyperBabyDuck for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Solo Jam Entry.

You are hosting a party and you must keep your guests in the perfect range of inebriation and cater to their personal music tastes until the sun comes up! Be warned! Some of your guests are lightweights, and if they get too drunk they won't have a good time.

Keep your guests drunk with beer and shots, but if they get too drunk give them some water to help them last the night.

This is my first ever game jam game and I still can't believe I finished it! I created everything except for the sound effects and font.

Enjoy!

Tools: Unity, Aseprite, BeepBox

Controls:

WASD / Up Down Left Right - Move

SPACE - Pick Up/Give

X - Drop

Esc - Exit Game

Fill the Guests' blue Drinks Bar to keep them having a good time, this will fill their green bar which in turns fills the overall Party Status bar at the bottom of the screen.

If a Guest has too much to drink their green bar will go down, so don't fill the blue bar too much!

Beer fills the Drinks Bar 25%. Shots fill the Drinks Bar 50%. Water reduces the Drinks Bar 15%.

Bug Fixes: Resolution fixed to fit in web browser without having to enable full screen.

FUTURE PLANS:

Thank you all for the comments so far! I think I will keep working on this game in the future and I am taking all of your comments on board. I am going to add difficulty levels, layouts and time limits.

I also want to clean up the UI, add drunkeness level indicators, possibly animations for the guests to add even more feedback and a small tutorial level that displays the benefits of each type of drink. I might also make the art style more cohesive, and I'm thinking about using a limited colour palette for each level as that is visually appealing to me and would be a fun challenge.

Interesting management game! Love the concept, changing the music to help the party is pretty funny. I was a little confused at the difference between shots and beer. And I also thought that the hydration level would be something that water increased, not the happiness level. Simple gameplay, I think the night lasts too long. But overall fun concept

Hey, this game looks awesome - very polished - but I can't figure out how to interact with it? Any tips? I'd love to play!

This is pretty polished! Very nice work on the graphics, and the controls feel nice. It seemed a bit too easy; I didn't have any problem finishing once I figured out the mechanics. I would recommending changing the game window size on your itch.io settings page to fit the entire game without going into full screen mode. Nice submission!

I thought it was really creative. Gameplay was super confusing, took me a bit to understand the core mechanic. But I thought keeping the party alive was a pretty good idea, and the ending definitely got a 5/5 from me

Really enjoyed this. There was a bit of a flicker sometimes when in fullscreen, but could have just been my computer. Nice graphics, achievable but challenging, made it to 6am with 84% party points! Great work!

Good idea and theme would benefit more with a more dynamic movement.

Keeping the party alive is such a good fit for the theme.
Controls are a bit stiff, but other than that I like the idea

Nice idea, but a little confusing. I was not really able to figure out what the perfect amount of drunkenness was. Maybe some visual clues on the bars might help with this? Graphics are great for a game jam game!

I loved this artstyle! Made it look very polished!
I didn't understand the tactic behind the game at first try, but finally managed to 'keep it alive'! ;)
