Fun Little platformer.

Love the concept, but I couldn't seem to beat the boss. I didn't see any weakness that needed to be exploited, so I just shot him bunch. Little tip, don't make bosses bullet spunges, they generally don't fell fair or fun to play against, so its better to have only a few hits but have them harder to get in. Would have been really cool if letting you balloon hit him from below was the way to kill him.

Also, look into putting sound effects into the game. It does so much with so little. if you need a software suggestion, I like bfxr for things like jumping and shooting, and BoscaCeoil for short melodies. They are great!

THanks @Zeggamer for the feedback! I definitely wanted to get some more phases to the boss that switch up gameplay, but like the audio, time fell away! The balloon hitting him from below would be a really interesting way of using the core mechanic to kill the boss, thanks for the idea. And luckily the boss was the last level, so you managed to beat the most of the game :D THanks again for playing.

Jumping and shooting feels great. Balloon popping animation is awesome. Didn't see a reason to let go of balloon other than that one level. Great game!

THanks @blotosaur, I definitely think that's the biggest hole i wish i'd had time to fix. I'd originally put in the balloon drop mechanic to help me debug stuff but ended up liking it and keeping it, i think it could work really nicely as a puzzle mechanic to give breathing room between combaty levels. If i continued on the game i'd definitely take on that problem head on! THanks for playing! :-)

I really liked the graphics. They fit their purpose, everything is easily readable.

The controls are straight forward but I had an issues with the keys. On my AZERTY keyboard, Z is far from X so it was a bit hard to use both, but that's a detail on such a short period of dev.

The game might have been more enjoyable if just reaching the balloon was enough to catch it (instead of hitting a key). The challenge for me was more to find the right way to reach it and do it in time, rather than hit this key at the right time.

Anyway, great achievement!

Awesome game! I think you could have used more the balloon-releasing mechanic for some new puzzles, but I love it!

cute little platformer. I think the colors are too dark. It is nice that you added a screen shake every time you shoot, it adds life to the game.

Really cute! It feels like there's a lot of potential here for puzzles with releasing & catching the balloon. I'd like to play more of this.

I love this compo entry! I like puzzle platformers. I played it 4 times. On the 3rd time I figured out how the last room and the balloon worked. The art is well directed and I like the gameplay. This is the type of game that you could layer a lot of stuff onto. Where would you take it next? Thanks for letting me play your game!

Super cool idea. The concept is pretty unique and my only complaint would be that I don't think it was explored enough. The level where you had to let go of the balloon to get through the spikes then go back and grab the balloon again was my favorite.

The idea has so much design space!

Thanks everyone for the lovely feedback! @iker-diaz @spacewizardj @randomnine @phlip45 solid feedback, i definitely ran out of time with juicing the mechanic. I think there's a lot of room to experiment with making some more puzzley elements here that would fit nicely, especially if i could even differentiate what the player could do whilst holding the balloon. Hopefully i have chance in the future to come back to the idea and clean it up and spend some more time on the concept!

Thanks everyone for playing! <3

Balloons seem to be a big topic at this ludum dare. I´ve seen em in a couple of games. I like the style of this one - I wanna be that guy like. Cool and well done! Very solid!

Really nice!

Finished the game in the second attempt. Boy, the boss does take quite a load of bullets. Maybe too much :)

First thing, add sounds. They do make such a difference!

Plays good, not too hard, and looks also really good. Well done!

This is overall a really good game, but it really needs some music and sound effects.

I really enjoyed that. I just missed some sound feedback. The game is too short but that’s okay it’s a great game and I liked the idea. This game is beautiful and simple, has a lot of potential to be explored. Great job!

Very Interesting mechanic! I liked how the baloon followed you side to side, and tilted with your movement

Great stuff. Really liked the boss fight, took me a while to realize that my own bullets could hit my balloon. When I realized what to do it got way more intense :) Hope to see more stuff from you, some great design ideas here
