@hcursino Ahah yeah the game was supposed to be a lot more like control your "pokemon" by proxy using food and various items. I may have click-baited too much :P I would have loved to add things like abilities to the 4 different animals. Also, my games need more juice. I need to be more proficient with the engine and reduce the scope to polish a lot more !
I threw the food at the animal with green mark, the food got stuck at the animal's back and stayed there. And all animals on the screen died.
Now I read in the comments that there is a strategy involved. I didn't recognize it. Try to focus on communicating whether the player is doing what they are supposed to. It was confusing for me.
It is not quite clear whether the animals are fighting or eating :)
Nice graphics, good music!
I might be worth mentioning in the instructions that holding click for longer throws farther. Also, there semem to be some issues with the collision detection (it seems like the backs of some of the animals are offset from position such that food bounces well before I should. The recon when standing up to attack is one such.
It's an interesting concept, good to see Godot and Krita are getting some love... Gameplay wise though I have a few remarks,
When you spawn as a "cat" or "raccoon" etc. there might be other cats, raccoons. While the arrow over the player's animal shows who you're supposed to help, it's not obvious the first time you play.
2nd, it's easy to lure animals to the sides, but very difficult to break-up 3 animals, if 2 are attacking one from the left **and** the right. Feeding the animal is useless since the heal rate will be lesser than the damage per second, and food thrown to the side won't lure the animals. Ex. a mouse who is facing right won't look at the food on his left, and the raccoon facing left will need to keep attacking the cat in-between to get to the food.
But besides that I really think it's an interesting idea. Nicely done!
@Zliebowitz The issue about the collision detection is that I spent like 5 minutes trying to finish up the different characters after having done the graphcis :D I made the game using a single placeholder graphic for everyone, and the game was intended to have 4 "characters", but they were really done on the last minutes. Next time I really need to focus on gameplay and try to focus on making a game I can "finish" in less than 8 hours :D
@kaeveris Sorry about the instructions, next time I will do a tinier game so I can polish it up real good, lesson learned :D And I should really stop using a different engine every Ludum Dare, or I won't have the time to do a proper game :(
@themadprogramer Ahah thanks for the feedback, I think I would have done a better job at polishing the game with a smaller project or better knowledge of the engine (and even better, BOTH !), and then I spent a very long time on the graphics :(
@awerar The idea was to lure the animals to "control" them remotely, but I really could not figure out a better animal AI that would allow for better control, so I kinda gave up and spent lots of time on the graphics instead :( I was supposed to also make a second projectile to harm the animals, but that's barbaric ! The third projectile that was supposed to be implemented was some kind of pill or potion to heal an animal.
@bailey That's like the best compliment, I was very happy to have made a nice menu :D
