Imagine Killing Dragons by woiteee

[raw]
made by woiteee for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Game about interacting with other entities, one of which is a dragon! Cover art.png This is fine.

The goal is to have your hero reach level 5, by standard RPG means - killing monsters. But even in this small world, there's quite a few characters and objects. Be ware of their interactions! What all can happen here?

full_screen.png

Interacting is done by bumping into things. So watch out what you're holding when you're bumping into characters!

I am not going to list all the mechanics that occur in the game, but pay attention to both the Log area on the bottom and to the stats area on the left. Share your favorite or hard to find interactions in the comments!

* Side-challenge: * How many different losing screens can you find? The one below is one of the easiest to find, but there are many more.

Controls:

  • Navigate menus with mouse
  • WASD / arrow-keys to move
  • R to rest
  • Space to drop item (or pick it back up)
  • M to mute sound (doesn't unmute)

It was a fun little game, but I didn't manage to win. The dragon just killed the prince! Then I bring water and make sure the prince doesn't burn to death and now he kills the dragon?!

Hmm, using Java 8 on Ubuntu 16.04, I get the following stack trace [](https://gist.github.com/Walnoot/eef68fe2cade1927e72eb8e1dd9a83ec). Let me know if this can be fixed, the game looks interesting!

@walnoot Thank you for reporting a bug! It seems to be connected to sound-playing, so I have created a soundless build, which can now be found under the Linux link. Let me know if it helps.

@nikita-demidov or anybody else - there are actually 2 ways of preventing the prince from killing the dragon

I like the art style and the mechanics (even though the game is very hard), they are very rogue-like (wink). Music is too simple and repetitive in my opinion. Overall, you've got a good game going here, a little polish and it would've been really great!

I had fun playing it. Prince was doing too much trouble .. I tried trhowing him into the well, but that apparently isn't an ending :D

I liked the art and music. The UI was a bit too simplistic, but works.

Not really a fan of the bump to interact style of roguelike but this was pretty fun. Not sure what was up with the tree in the top lefthand corner though.

@dishtron - if you keep it watered, something happens. Watch the log to see tree status :)
