Just escape the loop! If you can do it…

Enter this messy loop and try to reach one of the possible endings.

~~Maybe the game is boring or too repetitive and ends up annoying you, but I hope at least it will make you laugh a little.~~ This will stay here just to remind me not to write something like that again. Thank you ColeSlawski.

How to play:

P: Pause the game.

W or up arrow ⬆: Move up.

A or left arrow ⬅: Move to the left.

S or down arrow ⬇: Move down.

D or right arrow ⬅: Move to the right.

E: To perform actions or interact with something.

The use of the “E” key is neither obvious nor intuitive, find out when and where to use it.

The whole game is a big crazy loop full of little loops that will intentionally leave you confused. You may also find some quotes taken from some series...

I hope this crazy game at least makes you laugh a little.

Update Report:

  • Adjust the initial loop (not to be infinitely on the home screen)
  • Correction of layers. (details that probably only bother myself)
  • Completion and correction of the translation.
  • Visual feedback. (press any key, flash)
  • Fixed game problem without sound.
  • Fixed physics issues. (acceleration)
  • Addition of the space bar.

~~Honestly, I didn't know and I still don't know what to think about this game. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. But it is definitely a "game" or something strange.~~
~~I think what I did was to gather crazy thoughts, quotes, references, questions, irony and randomness; all in a single loop. Well, don't ask me if it worked.~~

Thanks for your support.

@kpedatte I believe I have solved the problem with the last update. I'm sorry I took so long to answer you, I hope you can still play. Thanks for the feedback!

There's some cool ideas in here but the controls are irritating, specifically w to jump (why can't it just be space ;-;) and the speed ramping on the movement.

Good take on the theme. You managed to finish many levels and the loop part didn't feel boring or what ever you wrote.
I don't know if if it is by design, but the controls felt a little bit clunky.
Overall good job.

I'm also stuck on the title screen. Unless it's supposed to loop? xD

@lychee Haha yes! This game has several loops, this is only the first, **but there is really a game after the initial screen, please keep clicking**, it is only a few times (4 times to be exact). I had doubts if this first loop of the home screen would keep some players away but I decided to take the risks, the joke seemed to be worth the risk. Thanks for the feedback!

The loop on the title screen is indeed confusing, but when we start the game with the theme in mind, it makes sense. I still started worrying if it was really a bug after the third time xD
Regarding the actual game, I found the character too slow to move. Fortunately the game is forgiving for platforming parts.
I ended up stuck at the level where the character references Stanley, not sure if it's one of the levels where I was supposed to use "E" key to do something. I wish I could have seen more loops ^^

@bellatrion Thank you for your feedback! I don't know if I should say this, but if you want a hint, one level before, the game says "move on" and then comes the reference to The Stanley Parable along with a question about why to follow orders, try to do the opposite.

Very intriguing, and I liked the gimmick that the start screen loops a bit before actually starting. I think the horizontal acceleration is slow enough that it genuinely detracts from the fun of the platforming.

@joaog Ah I see, I was able to play it for real now. Maybe some kind of indicator the title screen is looping would help to show it's not a bug haha.

I liked the sprites, and the dialogue was funny! I agree with others that acceleration should be a bit faster on movement, then it would feel nicer to control. Good job overall!

@joaog Aaaah, thanks for the hint ! Of course, it makes sense now :) I'll have to try the game again

I love games that mess with you like this... The physics could have done with a bit of polish though, the slow accelleration was a little frustrating and pressing E didn't work most of the time, until it suddenly did. Fun looping though and I enjoyed exploring it.

I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the music.
Just the player movement could use some tweaking.

Definitely one of the more interesting games I've played so far this jam. I liked the looping on the title screen. As the other reviews have noted, I'm not so keen on the physics, they're far more annoying than any of the looping mechanics. I also got stuck on the room with the Stanley Parable reference, I'll try out the hint and see if I can figure it out.

EDIT: I managed to find one of the endings and it was deceptively easy to get. I also found a fun little glitch: if you hold down D right at the start of a level, you'll move right while still facing left :joy:

@sli, @bellatrion, @jack-lance, @lychee, @garys, @chickenchaser, @f1krazy You all reported the same problems to me, sorry for that, but thanks for the feedbacks. I believe I have solved the physics and movementation problems in the new update and @antihedra, I am happy to tell you that I added the space bar key to jump! Thanks for playing.

With the physics fixed, I was able to play through more of the game and get the second ending. Now that I've seen more of it, I can really appreciate the looping, and the *Stanley Parable*-esque battles against fate and the narrator. There's a surprising number of rooms and different mechanics, and there's surely more that I haven't seen yet. Thank you for fixing the issues and getting back to be, it was definitely worth it for both of us!

Nice idea, and it's really cool that you managed to get multiple endings in! However it's not really clear what the point is while playing, and the platformer controls/mechanics can get in the way.

[We played your game on stream this weekend!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/781046795?t=02h39m58s)

We kiiiiiiinda scold you a little bit about your game page at the beginning, but just know that it comes from a place of love.

We actually had fun with this one! You managed to cram a lot of different mechanics into a single game by yourself, which is nuts, well done!

@coleslaughter,
I didn't know about this stream! Thank you so much for playing my game in your stream!

I just watched it and seriously, thanks for the suggestions and the rebuke, you can be sure that I will remember it next time and as soon as possible I will correct this in the games already published on my itch.io

It was fun to watch, you guys are awesome and got all the references!!!

Good idea, but not the best execution. Specifically the starting parts of the game like the menu are a bit annoying. I wouldn't recommend having the menu loop like that and require you to click several times before it starts. Players may think the game is broken before it even starts.

Amazing!!!! I was like aww a simple platformer, Nope! with all the different playable things, and being a cool ghost was my favorite, then a fish, awesome stuff, I even loved glitching through the wall above the doors, was able to move walk my way out of one :) I got out of the loop too!!! I really liked it, fun factor for real!

@f1krazy, without a doubt it was worth correcting the physics of the game.

@lychee, @bellatrion, @f1krazy, thanks for giving the game another chance and for coming back to the comments.

And again thanks to @coleslaughter and @birdwards for their streams! @coleslaughter, I already edited the pages of this game here and on [itch.io](https://joaog.itch.io/oplo)

>> _Thanks for the learning and experience of another *Game Jam*. See you at the next *Ludum Dare*!_ :v:
