I really like the concept of this. Needs a lot of polish, but I can totally see this being a nice metroidvania like game in the future! Gotta hold on to the concept!

Awesome game! A very good concept, would love to see more in the future.

Lovely art and sound direction, bit difficult to control especially on jumping. Arlo would get easily stuck and animation will stop with his legs up in the air or bended even if I was like walking. Some of the platform were quite difficult to get to as probably the collision boxes were too generous and I would easily hit some invisible wall/platform. Anyway nice job in the time allocated especially from the story / art / sound point of view. Great job!

Nice game! The aesthetic is cool, and I found the story really engaging. The various potion effects were also really fun

I don't know if there's a problem on my computer, but I can't seem to reach any point aside from the graveyard, in which I can't do anything anyway. I've tried pressing F like everywhere, clicking with my mouse, excetera. Nothing works. on the right side of the hut, on the other side, I can't jump over the ledge nor crouch under it, and apparently there's no command to make the player crouch. Too bad, it looked like a nice game.

@hyunkelw are you stuck on the first quest to find the mandrake and snapdragon? Once you find them in the hut area go inside the hut (press f while next to the door) and talk to the witch to progress. You won't be able to continue without the potions she gives you :)

Good looking game, liked the animations and style, but physics/ controls felt quite difficult to use. The character also sometimes gets stuck in the jump animation or in the level geometry.

@darkmax14 It's possible I'm too dumb for your game, but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Are you supposed to click on them? to walk on them? To press F when you find them? Can't seem to go anywhere except the top of the hut, and even up there I can't find anything. (On a side note, pressing F anywhere outside the hut brings you inside the hut)

@hyunkelw If you check right of the witches hut you'll find some platforms to jump up. You can find what you're looking for there

@darkmax14 I tried for like 3 full minutes but Arlo couldn't reach the platform... Dunno what the reason could be :( At this point I got frustrated and gave up. sorry :(

Oh boy this game had a lot of bugs. Got stuck in things, had to redo levels because I did not get pickups, ended up off screen for some dialog. No wonder it had so many bugs though because wow this game had a lot of content. A few levels, some interesting challenges, terrifying ghost noises, and even a mini game. And to add to that, what a great art aesthetic. Your team had to have worked really hard on this. I thoroughly enjoyed it, bugs and all. Great job.

Thank you for taking the time to write a comment @squid! We apprecite your patience with the multiple tries! We tend to be a bit over ambitious with our planning hence the bugs XD

I love hand-drawn styles! You guys really put a lot into this game, probably too much and not enough gameplay testing since I ran into some things that I got stuck in. But wow, what great effort. Amazing entry!

@zesix Thanks for your comment! Glad you liked the art style. We did bite off a bit more than we can chew, hence we didn't have the time to rigourously test everything before the deadline, but we did our best

It was nice, I encountered a bit of bugs but it happens. Classic platformer, sound and graphics are nice, humour is a bit childish but it is there :D

i played all the way until getting the last ingredient and it was just too hard. the ghosts give you no time to switch to a different spell. this was a great game and just needed a little tweaking to be great. #gogodot

Comands are a bit rough and jumps are bit hard to take in hand. Art is real nice. We got stuck because we couldnt figure out what happened to the mushrooms, tried to follow them but did not find them. Great job anyway !

@paulhocker Glad you enjoyed our game. The ghosts were meant to be difficult but I think I ended up underestimating just how fast I made them if you're unprepared for where they are.

@red-ash Happy to hear you liked the art. The mushroom chase was meant to have you explore the level to find the final confrontation. We will work on making the progression through the level a bit more clear in the future to avoid confusion. I think we ended up making it a bit too open ended right after the second mushroom cutscene.

Nice game! I got stuck in the witch's roof... twice, but I did eventually beat the game. The game felt rough around the edges, particularly in the graveyard area, but it was still a fun little metroidvania. Also, dunno if you intended it, but you can sneakily get around the troll's minigame, by climbing up the cliff behind him using speed. I think it's a bit sad that the game has all of these awesome potions, but you can only have one equipped at a time, and it's pretty slow to swap out the active power. This is the main factor that made the graveyard hard, I needed to be small and swap back and forth between mist and speed, but the swap mechanic just didn't allow it. I think it'd be good if you could use the potions by pressing a dedicated button for each, it'd allow you to chain the different powers in interesting ways. The game was still fun, I really liked the style of the game, with the tea cup cauldron and nice character animation, and the music was well made too (even tho it didn't loop). Overall the game was great, nice story and characters, but it could've used a bit more time for polish.

@justcamh really appreciate the feedback! that was actually discovered very close to the deadline, if you're sneaky you can also use it to get around the back of the Forest too :D I like that idea, we did implement mapping number keys onto selecting specific potions but that is a very good point! Once the Jam is over I do intend on updating the game and expect to see the potions being mapped directly to keys! I think its quite easy to get too honed in on a specific idea and miss simple improvements like that, good eye

Absolutely love the art style! The story was a roller coaster of emotions and brilliantly executed for this short timeframe.

The controls were a bit sluggish hovever, I got weirdly stuck in falling state or was walking inside the ground multiple times. Also I could have done without the ******* ghosts.

See me failing to turn on my microphone :face_palm:

I loved the art style, and the animations (particularly how the shrunk version lifts his arms up). The controls were a bit spongy, and it could certainly use some polish as others have said, but great job overall.
