Don't Crack by Weirdybeardyman

[raw]
made by Weirdybeardyman for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

You can't make an omelette without cracking a few eggs, and you're next, make a break for it! A local co-op multiplayer platformer where you're an egg and you have to escape a house. One player is the egg and another is the protector who has to stop the egg from falling too hard using a pillow or stop objects from crushing it.Screen1.PNG To create the game I used: Godot, Gimp, Krita, LMMS, Audacity

This is short but sweet, and utterly hilarious. You can kinda cheat though, by having the pillow just carry the egg and make it fly across the room :D

Pretty easy to win if you land on the pillow and drag it to the end. Other than that, it was a nice game. More graphics produced than a lot of other games on here. Cool idea, hope you continue working on it.

Needs a little more gameplay work other than that its really fun and I challenged myself!

Am I supposed to just carry the egg on the pillow?

Agree with the others that it's easy to cheat. The game itself is hilarious and very fun, though on my first couple tries, I didn't notice the 'egg health' bar in the top right and wondered why I kept dying. I think a brief tutorial would super easily fix this. Very fun, and I like the 'platformer but you lose health after jumping' sort of twist.

Why idid the lightbulb fall down? I didn't expect that one...

Using the theme spot on. Egg control and physics could be improved, but I like!

I really like this. As mentioned it's a little too easy to cheat with the flying pillow. There should be some mechanic that doesn't allow you to just fly the egg to the end. The concept and humor is great. "is this some kind of yolk to you", nice.

I liked the game and the cheat part, I mean, if you don't want to cheat, don't cheat ^^ Well done!

Great job! Constructive feedback: I got stuck in egg carton and had to restart O.o; I didn't realize I had to pick my pillow back up to place it down later; so I ended up not having a pillow after a while. But on 3rd round I figured it all out.

Overall great job! I like the the idea that you can play this with someone and they can act as your lifeline and give you pillows! Should be really fun to play as a couple!

Kind of a neat idea... The pillow should not have been movable though. It's trivial to beat by hopping onto the pillow, then picking the pillow up and "flying" above the house all the way to the right.

Had to grab a friend for this one, not too many multiplayer games in Ludum Dare, so this was a nice change of pace. Had a lot of fun being the egg try to not get smashed.

Fin and simple but fiddly in terms of the physics (picking up objects and dropping them was inconsistent for some objects). Also you could give the egg a nice soft magic carpet(pillow?) ride straight to the exit if the pillow player picks up the egg and doesn't let go. However, I like the concept and I still enjoyed messing around in it despite that. Keep it up.

A hilarious concept, perfect for the theme. There were some clear issues with execution, however. The platforming was VERY janky. Some objects you could climb up just by jumping repeatedly, and the lamp had a bounding box extending all the way out to the widest part of the base, leading to huge amounts of solid air. Also, I was able to beat it in about 60 seconds on my first try just by spawning in the pillow and carrying myself to the end.

All that being said, this game was very well conceived, and a memorable experience to play, all it needs is a little polish and balance to be a really good game. Nice work.

Like what other people have said, it is easy to cheat by using the pillow and just dragging the egg all the way to the duck. But on my second try, I tried to drag the egg with the pillow and I could go all the way pass the duck and just could not get back to the house.

I just played this with my brother a few times and had a great time! The pillow mechanics felt incredibly abusable... I was able to literally carry him to the end without consequence. But somehow it still felt polished and really well-made. I especially liked the music and the graphics! Great job!

I had a great time doing the compo and playing everyone's games, and I am really happy with the game I was able to finish and the results are a nice bonus. I look forward to doing it all again in October and maybe I will have learnt how to art by then haha (very unlikely)
