escars by Guilherme Oliveira

[raw]
made by Guilherme Oliveira for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

escars is a simple turn-based game where you have to go through a forest and keep your avian companion alive! a lot of weird stuff goes on through those forests...

Hey, this is my first Ludum Dare! I tried to make a simple Turn-Based game, as it is a genre that I enjoy, and I want to make a game really similar to this one in the future, but better fleshed out!

I ended up not planning very well and the end result is not quite what I wanted, but still, I'm fairly happy with it and can work as a concept to future games I want to make. Also, I didn't put as much polish on it as I wish, but that's part of a gamejam I guess. I didn't plan very well and the end result isn't that good and it lacks some polish, but I'm happy with it!

To make it clear: all art used is from the DawnLike set, by DragonDePlatino, that can be found on OpenGameArt! All my sound effects are also from sound packs I had previously, I properly opted out all of those categories, but just want to make it clear here!

This is a great start to what could be a great rpg. It looks great and plays really good, as said before it is short and really simple but one can't expect much from a jam. So yea really great job.

Successfully made it to the end on my second try! This was a joy to play, basically a tiny little RPG with two town areas, a handful of NPC's and objects to interact with, a dungeon, and even a boss battle of sorts - and even though it's fairly quick to play through, I feel like that's a pretty impressive amount of content for a weekend game jam. One potential addition / improvement might be a health bar or heart meter of some sort, I wasn't sure how close I was to dying at any point while venturing through the forest. The visuals felt very cohesive and were a good and effective use of the referenced asset pack I think. Very nicely done overall! :)
