1: Your game has some 3D elements(shadow in ladder-sprite, flying enemies) but it still thinks in 2D when it comes to spikes
(touching them with your head=dead). You should add an empty object to the Player and give it a BoxCollider2D and make the offset so, that the collider is on the Players feet. Now check if the Spikes touch THAT collider and only if they do they should do damage.
2: The last level was more difficult than the rest without providing any hints that it is the last level.
P.S. I think I will update this game and make devlog on my channel about it :D
On a side note, the youtube link in you menu is not working.
Yeah all these flaws were mentioned earlier, so next time I need to not overuse post process.
Thanks for Feedback!
I'm gonna leave link to my youtube in description on Ludum Dare page.
great work; keep it up.
@john-snyder Yeah that would be a cool idea to implement (I'm about chicken health), the main reason why I didn't include chickens health is that she is one hit(in most of cases), but I was dump and I needed to do so. And about Input, you right, maybe I needed to make more "free space" room? So I could make faster speed for the player.
Thanks for Feedback!!!
My only issue with it is that maybe there could be some added visual feedback when you drop or pickup the chick as it can be hard to tell at times.
It was a pretty short game but I greatly enjoyed playing it!
it has a chicken
cons:
it doesn't have more chicken
More seriously, I like the art and the fact that you made it yourself. You were also able to add good game design and interesting mobs on the levels that I tried (I didn't get to the end)
I think it would have been nice for maybe the chicken to escape your hands so you had to try and rescue it from other dangers such as the spikes as a nice extra challenge. Otherwise it was never that challenging for how far I got. Overall not a bad entry.
Your idea with chicken is very good, and at the day 2 I wanted to add this feature but I was low on time.
I want to make Devlog series about this game where I'm gonna make bigger game (with all feedback on Ludum Dare), I hope I will make a good game :D
Yeah 3 level as I seen is the hardest because of collisions(I needed to make it as you said only on feet).
Thanks for Feedback! :)
Also the chick is cute.
Oh, and I think you should update the page to reflect that the itch.io contains web build of the game! Some people might turn around when they see there's no web option available (or they think there isn't)
Well done!
1.) You have no way to tell whether or not the chicken is being held or has been dropped. A slightly different graphic of the robot carrying the chicken would help with this.
2.) Whenever I tried to fire a bullet, there was almost a second long delay after clicking before it fired. This made it extremely difficult to aim and shoot enemies.
I'd love to see what more you could do with this!
