In the far distant future of 2021 a mysterious creature has descended from space and laid siege to our planet. As it lays waste to continent after continent, only one hope to save mankind remains; the great behemoth that sleeps just past the shore lines. Always referred to as “it” by tales old and new, we must awaken it and hope it can defeat the space creature and its armies. Has “it” been sleeping too long though? Is “it” too weak?

Luckily a hero lives among us. The greatest Tank Man to ever live. His piloting skills of the tracked metal mechanisms are unmatched, and his abilities with the artillery of the articulating armatures and adamantium shelled tank are that of legend. His name? TankMan Phil!

With TankMan Phil escorting “it” to battle, our chances of defeating the space monstrosity should increase by at least 8%. Take on the role of TankMan Phil in this epic adventure… of slowly moving left across the landscape (“it” walks very slow) as your guard “it” from floating octopus space spawns, and helping “it” achieve its maximum potential for defeating the space monster!

Controls:

Mouse click and/or SpaceBar to fire missile.

That's it.. you don't control the tank or anything else, as TankMan Phil's ground breaking AI has that covered.. it's an homage to Missle Command, just aim and shoot.

nice. I like tankman Phil, felt solid. He was a good gunner. Made it through the game. Thought the end dropping stuff at the same time as wanting to defeat the big guy was really cool. I liked making it bigger. Would have been neat to see the big thing at the end shoot something at your tank. Felt a lot like missile command. :-)

Hey thats cool! I love your Doom-inspired music, graphics is stylish, voiceovers are cool and Tankman Phill? That's funny :D As for a feedback I would appreciate more weapons for example something like lasers that kills everything in it's way, etc.. but it was cool anyway :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! @jiri-hysek I agree that it needs more weapons/upgrades/etc.. I made it a point to do weapon upgrades, but only got one done, and learned valuable lessons on time management.. and the need to code better to have a 'framework' of sorts for systems like a weapon upgrades.. something I can research and practice to become a better dev! :D

Very cool game! I love the general mood and the ground breaking AI movement :)
It would be interesting if there would be a score or any other upgrades as it gets a bit repetitive at some point. Overall good job!

Simple and fun. Didn't understand the upgrade fully and it took me a while to figure out what the tanks did, but the cover of E1M1 kept me pumping!

Why are the aliens even a threat if they have a time machine? just kidding  Simple gameplay, but cool visuals!

Really fun game! Graphics and audio are also cool. I think it is not very innovative but the fun factor makes it up for it. Would have liked other types of weapons and enemies. Well done overall

Great ambiance, the graphics are really well done ! Music fits the game perfectly. Good application of the theme too, I always like game like Missile Command, it is a good variation ! Nice work with the rapid fire bonus too. Made it to the end, but was not fast enough to catch the radiation drop haha I got overwhelmed by the enemies. Good work !

Cool homage to the past :) The voice overs definitely help the mood and feeling of the gameplay. Plus points for a game with a Kaiju and Mount Fuji.

Maybe I found a bug: after the 1st powerup spawned, I shot it, and then as I was trying to shoot the creatures, no bullet would hit them again, so I just died.

I won on first try and now I feel like a badass \o/ that's the feel of your game in a nutshell :D Excellent mood! Love the art and colors. The whole game is well balanced and full of diversity, with the powerup for shooting speed and the crates of radioactive fluids (those looked badass as well, I can't emphasize enough how you nailed that mood aspect). I felt a bit cheated when of my projectiles went through an enemy. I thought I had unlimited power? Of course I understood right away that I had to shoot a little bit ahead of them and time my shot right, which is a bit more challenging hence more rewarding. I wish I could play for longer but this is the tradition of LD to make short games and I won't argue with that ^^ Impressive craft!

That was brutal! Music seems familiar, but I can't remember where I heared something similar.
The game's visuals are consistent, music and sound effects fit perfectly. Always nice to hear voice acting in the game. :)

The music remind me "At Doom Gate" from DOOM 2016. Good for you is one of my favorite game of all time :p

I like the voice acting and style. I don't know if it was just my end, but the games window didn't match my screen on the web version.

@nirose Thank you for the feedback on that issue - I figured there may be some display/resolution issues; I ran out of time to work on the menu, so things weren't pixel perfect and properly anchored.. at different resolutions they ended up at bad places on the screen.. so my band-aid was to just try and force 1920x1080 everywhere.. default windows launch and WebGL build.. which definitely could have caused the experience you had.

I got the same T-shirt, what a funny coincidence! As you have witnessed, I enjoyed the Missile Command throwback quite a lot, it felt like a "Missile Command II" could have been with scrolling and a moving target to protect. I enjoyed the additional challenge with the toxic drones in the final confrontation and was very lucky to have "it" survive on my first attempt. Here's again the video with my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2FekepgpMs
The victory fanfare still makes me chuckle!
