@jakobthequizguy Alright I will go in more detail:
- The start of the game really helps in building up the suspense, the story is simple and totally unnecessary, but I'm happy it was there, it adds just enough more depth to the game.
- The character's movement is very fluid and the Hungry Conviction is fun to use, the level design takes advantage of that pretty well. The jump is a bit floaty but I like that, and I love how the jump height depends on how long you press the key for.
- The graphics and sounds are grotesque and full of personality, there is a lot of character to this game's design.
- Starting over when you get pushed to the left sucks a lot, I wouldn't have that much of a problem with that if starting back up wasn't so slow, sometimes going between sections is weird because there is so much ground between each one.
- Although progression may be slow, the game ends fairly quickly. The ending is kind of disappointing because I thought the story set up in the beginning would be continued or given conclusion, even if it was just text, but the character ends pretty much in the same place as they started. I don't blame you for having a lackluster ending though, considering how my game ends. xd
That's it, your game is really simple, that's why I didn't have a lot to talk about at first.
@fupi Thanks for the detailed feedback, yeah if there was one thing I could add it'd be checkpoints. The lack of them and the abrupt ending are the result of me finishing this game last minute, I agree a more thorough follow-up would've been cool :) really glad you like the intro story though, and that you like the mechanics and level design especially since those are so important.
The mood feels great together with the wonky music, the colors and the background, I really like what you accomplished here!
I also found the in-between sections a bit long, but as you already mentioned that wasn't your intention but simply a time issue :P Same goes for restarting from the beginning without the pickups.
Overall a very fitting entry with a lovely character :) Nice!
@nethead Also very flattering, thanks! Yes, something as simple as adding at least 2 background objects that scroll past in the background would've done a lot, shame I couldn't get to that.
@gurigraphics Thank you!
Really cool art and nice work!
