Pi's Great Escape by Lone_Wolf
You find yourself in a strange dream where the world is constantly rotating. Using your special Pi powers you must navigate your Cherry Pie body through the world in the hopes of eventually escaping

- A/D - Left/Right to move
- W/Space/Up to jump
- LMB/RMB - Q/E - Shift+A/D to change the world rotation
Dev's note
This was a lot of fun to make. First time using Tiled/Aseprite and they're both great tools. I did the music with LMMS. I think I'm starting to get over my ~~writer's~~ musician's block.
Might continue this with multiplayer (For the laughs if anything) and more levels if it seems popular enough
Note: This has caused someone to have motion sickness. I think most people should be fine though

I didn't have very many testers so I wasn't sure how difficult I should make it. A 10-14 year old beat the whole thing in under 3 minutes though
Yeah, I don't think Godot liked me rotating everything like that lol
i didnt read what the controlers were so i played withour rotating untill the 4th map i think, the on where you have to rotate.
i have never gotten motion sick from playing a game, ill give you an extra star on every point. fuk... my tummy hurt so bad T_T
Other than that, nice job.
I didn't want to allow the player to slow down the platforms too much or it would be too easy :smiling_imp:
I read in your commentes that you were rotating the whole level, did you consider rotating the character, the camera and the gravity vector only? That could require less calculations ;)
The music was nice and I really liked that you would change its side depending on the rotation.
Nice entry!
I tried changing it to rotate the player only but after an hour of failures I scrapped that and went with this method. I haven't done too much with godot's physics yet so I was probably missing something.
I'll probably have another go at it post-jam
Controlling the character AND the world was super confusing. I found myself relying more on the rotation of the world, and rarely trying to move the character at all since he usually ended up on a slope too step to walk or jump anyways.
When you reach the actual end the game will freeze if you're using the HTML version and it will close if you're using the Downloaded version. To escape The End level you need to go to the right and swing yourself upwards once you reach the end. There's a portal that doesn't move with the level up there
In the case of cheating the puzzles I don't mind that. I was worried the game would be too hard for most people
Well done!
The problem, to me, is that it is very hard to control, and I don't believe it's even very easy to learn to control. I could never figure out how to jump consistently, and the amounts of momentum and even jump height I could get could vary wildly based on all sorts of inscrutable factors.
The places where jumping was required took me forever as I tried to get the game to give me a jump...
But as I said, once I finally got the hang of just kind of praying and pointing my buttons in the general direction of where I want to go, I did have a bit of fun. The physics and controls just need to be much more predictable to really sell the experience.
And, as a data point, the game did make me a little motion sick too.
