Cursed Deck by rhewid

CURSED DECK

In this entry, you have a Deck that is cursed. In order to win, or escape the loop, you have to ban all of your cards.

This can be done by killing monsters and getting a "Ban" card as a prize. This will remove one of your cards in either your Deck, Hand or Discard pile - if not empty!

You need to play your cards smartly, because the Ban card always chooses the hand at last. So if there are cards left in either your Deck or Discard pile it will go for it first.

Pretty much a Slay the spire clone, which is not nescesarily too bad since it is one of my favorite games.

However the theme is a bit of a stretch for this one.

Overall cool that you managed to get something this complex working in the timeframe!

My game suddenly ended and I got the following message:

Hey, so... Feedback:

I like how this game plays. The visuals are pretty good. The only thing I really miss is a soundtrack. It felt very silent.

Personally, I think this is a fine addition to the jam.

AWESOME card game, nice job!
When I first see this game, I gonna give you straight 5 with no hestitation as my submission is a deck building game too. I am a big fan of card games.
The polishing is really good, the 8bit graphic style is also cool, and the gameplay fits the theme well. Gread submission!

Thats a really cool idea! In my run it became very quickly about just clicking all my cards without strategy til the enemy is dead because I could just play all anyway. Maybe less cards or my high cost cards would improved that but then again I could just have been lucky. The art style is lovely only missing some animation, like some simple bump movement for hits.

This is neat! After a while the strategy aspect was a bit lacking, and just hoping on getting banish cards when an enemy is defeated. Interesting concept nonetheless!

It's an interesting concept that works out pretty well for a game jam game. Something like this as a multiplayer titles might have potential.

I was kinda bored by this game. Its nothing new and its not really fitting the theme pretty well. For me it was just another card game :grimacing:

It was hard to follow what was going on at times, when cards went into and out of discard was unclear to me at first. I think I now understand that the banish card bans one card EACH from deck/hand/discard, so a total of 3 cards. Also I didn't realize that there were also instant effects to pick from, I first thought they would all be cards that get added to my deck.

Hey! We made a card game for this jam as well so when I saw this I wanted to play it asap. Yeah, like others said it's not 100% fitting the theme but you've got some nice ideas going on here. Considering it's a COMPO entry, you did well! Keep up the good work.

@indiequest @craftwill @tygrak @bicheste @celuloide @namnam @davision @danae @vem @tyrael @hakro @melvinng @klianc09 @brainoid Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Glad to see that you enjoyed it. Yes the game needs a lot of polishment I will continue working it and try to make it more fun and add a tutorial section. This and also balancing are parts that I always miss out on the gamejam.

I was a couple of days away I will now first play all of the games that I missed out :)
