Monster Love by Endurion
You are Frankenstein's Cousin. Surely you can do better than him? You collected body parts, stitched them together and prepared everything. Now you have to wait for the next thunder storm.
While you do, make sure, that Frankie (your creation) is not eaten by flies and other critters. Grab your mighty fly swatter and get on doctoring!

Probably final entry uploaded, see link below. Includes both binary (Windows) and source code. Have fun! :)
Remember when voting, Compo time is not yet up, so there may be some more changes! Current final version is V1.0a (shown in menu screen)

That was the most entertainment when I wack using "flybitter" on the wheel
I liked the variety of critters and obstacles too. You would be able to create many more levels with just these mechanics without feeling repetitive.
The music is very good and your frankenstein monster is neet.
I died on the first level with electricity and i've been respawning in the next level, don't know if it's what you had planned ?
Execution was great too. Varied levels and different types of challenges around a solid gameplay concept.
I got a bug that when I died (my character, not Frankestein) I would skip the level. Unfortunately I ended up not being able to play the electricity levels since I died in each one lol
Congrats!
The sound is awersome, and all the idea is great!
The music was great at increasing the tension and the whole game did a good job of making me feel frantic. Well done!
Great game :)
Stuff that can be improved:
-Swatter control is a bit uncomfortable. The gap between player's body and swatter, and the granularity of movement together make it harder to swat correctly.
-The lag between killing all flies / dying, and the menu popping up is a bit too large - I'd just almost instantly flash the menu.
-Those fat not-flies sometimes get stuck in place.
@battlecat Something tells me you didn't energize the mouse wheel on level 3 :)
I also personally liked the art style here, as it's reminiscent of a lot of hokey DOS games and aspiring to make something that hits a personal nostalgia nerve for me. Normally, I don't like having to download a game, but the art alone got me past that feeling and I'm glad I did it.
There are still a few negatives to this: the controls for the flyswatter are pretty unintuitive and feels hard to predict where the swatter will go, which makes it way harder to hit flies on the table than it should be. The hitbox for the electric floors is way too huge, where the player can still be hit even in places where their body is nowhere near the panel. There is also a bug where some "Try Again" buttons will just skip ahead to the next level. The second to last level also feels like it needs a balance pass, as it was sheer broken AI and luck that was the only reason I won finally.
However, I really love this entry and hope to see more!
There's the editor with almost usable details.
And all others, thanks for the feedback!
EDIT: Nvm, I just hadn't picked up the swatter.
