The one thing that I take issue with is that I can't tell when I'm in danger of the spirit of words dying. I'd like to have some meter somewhere that shows me how long I have. That being said, I had a lot of fun playing it - love the chess piece movement upgrades - love the strategic element of trying to preserve my consonant-to-vowel ratio - and I defy all comers to best my high score of 1044, which I absolutely cannot prove due to the fact that my laptop apparently cannot screenshot a gamemaker window.","likes":1,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"Marcin Godzina","author_uid":"1183071","time":"2020-04-22T08:15:15Z","epoch":1587543315,"modified":1587543315,"text":"Nice word game, but I lack the timer till the death of spirit. You are now officially better than the developer! (for now...) \n\nI just recently fixed a crash bug. It was happening when the tile randomization gets really unlucky (the exact maximum result causes it to try to access the 27th letter). If you redownload the executable, the crash should be fixed.\n\n@testlab \nOh, yeah, word games with time pressure are painful for nonnative speakers. I'm not sure I quite get what you mean about the difficulty progression though. Perhaps it might have been better if you'd gone for the Jam: you'd have had extra time to polish it up, and you would have been able to use third-party audio assets.\n\nAs it is, though, it's not a bad game. This is also one of the more creative games I saw during this jam, for example I love how you incorporated the powerups, and how they use the chess move patterns. And the UI is really great as well, like the laser that connect the words and how it highlights which letter you can go on next.\n\nMy two main complaints would be that it was a bit hard to learn when I first booted it up, I didn't know why I kept dying, and I didn't know that you can use a power by clicking on it [like the Z ability].\n\nand the second complaint is that after the second powerup it gets a bit too difficult for me personally, I think a mode selection [easy, medium, difficult] would be nice for this game.\n\nOverall I think this is a fun game, and I could see it being a great full game as well!","likes":1,"format":"md"}],"format":"md","images":["ld46\/182013-7bc32ff70a1c262391045bb429ee4cf1.png"],"links":[{"url":"https:\/\/notgreat.itch.io\/vocabulavore","text":"Youtube"},{"url":"https:\/\/notgreat.itch.io\/vocabulavore","text":"Youtube"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"59770","g_author":"1080849","g_event":"LD46","g_eventkey":"77","g_subevent":"COMPO","g_urlkey":"271326","g_title":"Feeding Words","g_status":"PVT1","g_place":"726","g_commentcount":"17","g_site2_node_id":"182013","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":{"n_key":"182013","n_urlkey":"271326","n_parent":"176557","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/46\/feeding-words","n_slug":"feeding-words","n_type":"item","n_subtype":"game","n_subsubtype":"compo","n_author":"80849","n_created":"1586243315","n_modified":"1589103645","n_version":"638894","n_status":"COMMIT"},"node":{"id":182013,"parent":176557,"superparent":9,"author":80849,"type":"item","subtype":"game","subsubtype":"compo","published":"2020-04-20T01:42:18Z","created":"2020-04-07T07:08:35Z","modified":"2020-05-10T09:40:45Z","version":638894,"slug":"feeding-words","name":"Feeding Words","body":"The spirit of words \u200bis starving, and you must form unique words to feed it and keep it alive.
