The LoopHole by morcado

[raw]
made by morcado for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

A little 2.5D platform game. In this game you are a Robot that has been controlled by an evil AI, and signed for your freedom. In order to escape, you have to get 3 important items (an energizing button, an reject chip and a mysterious box). You are in a world where gravity behaves a little different than earth, and where the end looks a lot like the beggining

Game made by @morcado @leviant @wolfer and my sister Mariana for the banner and some images

We used Unity and decided to make a 2.5D platform using. The most difficult part was setting the right physics for the robot as well as the colliders. We couldn't get more sounds because of time and we find some basics.

Our principal goal was to make a single level that it would appear to be repeating, and when you get to the end you will notice you are "stuck in a loop". The name LoopHole comes from the meaning of a contract that can be broken legally, in this case the contract is the AI taking control of the robot (the player). And to break the contract you have to get the items.

We used a robot because it was the first thing we think about.

Thank you for playing and any feedback would be appreciated. This game is not complete and you may find bugs

Nice project :) I would recommend makign the physics less sliding if you kind, but that could be personal preference!

I like the idea of the level wrapping around :) I ended up taking advantage of that and just falling instead of jumping around the platforms though. Maybe adding a penalty for falling could make it more interesting? Or some other skill related thing you have to do to fall successfully?

Gravity is a bit strange, so is jumping.
The modeling is very good. Very relevant idea.

finished the game in 177s ! I didn't notice the looping mechanic tho? I didn't fall from any ledges ^^
the physic feels rather odd but it's not bad.
well done!!

I take pleasure to play this game, a little bit hard to move but it's a nice use of the theme, congratulation for the result !

155s! Cute little game. A minimap would be a great addition, I felt a bit lost at times, especially when you reset without any object on screen, it is hard to tell that you've actually been reset.

I don't know if it was intentional, but the velocity persisting between resets gives way to some interesting speedrunning tactics where you can bypass large parts of the map - I ended up just flying over most obstacles.

Interesting game, wasn't sure of what the theme had to do with it but was fun to play. Could do with some directions. Well done!

I enjoyed being able to loop back around on the map to make up for my platforming mistakes. Sorry to say that I didn't really enjoy the platforming, it felt very slow and hard to adjust. Still, good job!

I liked your idea, but the physics are really rough. Sliding around makes the game hard to play, and the jumps feel very slow and floaty. When you stand on a moving platform as it goes down, you wind up floating above it and falling down to it, which makes it basically impossible to jump. Physics are really hard to get right, especially so quickly, and I think you did a pretty good job for a game jam.
