AmbiSphere by X-c

[raw]
made by X-c for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Little game for training reaction and attention) This game was created in less than 24 hours. Completely from scratch. I hope it gives you pleasure!!!

How to play!? The goal of the game is very simple - hold out as long as possible (game become faster and faster). Dont touch other sphere, dont touch the yellow stripes) You lose charge when you are not connected by the beam in the center. Just fly closer) Management: for the blue sphere -WASD , for the red sphere - arrows. That's all, have fun)

It was quite challenging to control both sphere at the beginning, although after a bit I realized it is actually pretty easy to create a setup where you can never lose charge. Adding in some other obstacles would be nice. Loved the pixel art and music, good job.

once i got the hang of it i realized i can move up and down simultaneously and it was easy. also there is no end goal. maybe when you get to a specific power level?

@hexiez123 I planned additional complications. Everything is ready for this at the level. I will try to finalize. Thanks for your rating!

@yadir2447 At first, it’s very easy to manage spheres. But over time, their speed will grow and grow. Thx for rating and playing me game!

I really enjoyed this. It reminded me of the quality shareware games I would trade on floppy disks or download from a BBS in the 80s. It really had that retro feel and made me nostalgic for my youth when I would spend hours playing simple engaging games like this. Even though I actually am ambidextrous, the increasing speed really made it a challenge as well as controlling two different spheres. The animation of the beam-projector did a lot with a simple animation. Absolutely delightful, I could see me coming back to this time and time again for some casual relaxing gaming. -- Zen

Not so easy for me, after time im ended loosing synchronization. Game is fun, but not for long, definetly needs more variety. Other than that, good job!

First time it's hard, but after few tries you'll find how to abuse it. Music and art are good.

@zenandanna Thanks for the detailed answer. I am very glad that the game found its player. Thanks!

@briibot Thank you.

@evergreen-games The game already has almost everything for this. So in the next version there appear new elements.

@fax There will definitely be new elements.

What a great experience. It's a classic challenge and I could'nt stop playing haha. The audio is fitting and the art is enough to get the point across. I ~would've~ liked some more visual feedback when hitting the yellow lines or otherwise taking damage. Still amazing you did this in one day.

I guess it would be fun to play the game with two players?

Cute little jam. There are some ways to abuse the game, like starting both of the orbs in the corner and putting the same inputs later, but this has a good idea behind.

Good entry, man!

@khud0 Initially, I did not think about two players, trying to make a game with the need to work with both hands in different fields. But maybe adding a second player would be a completely different game with different difficulties. Thanks for the advice)

@isayneigh Honestly, I did not think about the visual display of hits on the line. Thank you so much for this idea, I will definitely implement it.And many thanks for the appreciation of the game. I'm glad you liked it.

A little tricky to understand at first, but pretty fun once you get the hang of it. My arms started to get sore once the game hit about 500 speed and I had to rapidly press the keys.

Interesting concept, I had a lot of trouble understanding that I was supposed to play the 2 orbs. It's really hard to coordinate but that's the point.

Thank you for the game.

nice concept, it's quite challenging but was fun to try to get in sync with both spheres. The only comment is about the score, because I got speed almost 400 but my score kept going down. would be nice to have a score by speed maybe
