Quite an interesting way of approaching the theme. The art is awesome and the overall audio as well! The movement feels a bit hard to control, especially in the air. A bit more friction/snappiness and the game would be even better! Awesome work :)

That's a good work guys ! Pretty inspired and fits on the theme, there's a lovely indie touch on the graphics and sound design : i love that :D Will you continue the developement after the Ludum ? This game needs more ! Watch out about your controls for the next project, they seems actually to be out of controll, it’s quickly frustrating ahah Good luck for the future !

@corentin-sabiaux thank you! Yeah we want to make some fixes and after good feedback: more gameplay :)
thanks!!

@dawnscream thank you! :3

Great stuff and creative. But I agree that movement is quite harsh ;p

@celmer89 Thank you. Yeah, the movement isn't the strength of the game, but if I look back like a day, I'm so happy about the controls right now =D

Cool game! Wish there was a checkpoint for the boss fight.

Very creative approach of the theme ! Nice gameplay ( but movements a bit hard to control ) and I love the evolutions of the character ! Nice game !

Thank you @eva. Yeah, some things are missing out because of the time constraint. There would be a second bossfight and some tweaking on controls and respawning but sadly time run away. We will probably continue working on it and take that feedback into account!

Thank you @t-bo. We are aware that the movement needs some tweaking, glad you liked it non-the-less.

Hey! I'll start with how epic the gameplay is, I absolutely loved the fact that you had to pick up the scripts and it would execute the line in-game :D Made this a lot more exciting! The art direction is wonderful, kinda weird how there's a 16-bit character and a lote more-bit reaper guy at the same time, but kinda loved it tbh :D Overall the art direction and graphics are wonderful, good to a pixel art game executed as well as this one! Gameplay-wise also a really fun game! Camera might feel a bit too fast at least on my laptop, idk if it makes a difference.

But no complains really, a super nice game! Good job on finishing this sick piece!

overall I liked the experience, it is a fun game and i think it's a cleaver way of integrating the jam's theme. The ideia of starting with no functionaliteis and adding them seems to me prity cool. The pixel art is cool and i really like the 1st jump animation, the one with the rotation. But the art style seems to me to have some coerency problemes. For exemple the 1st environment is not draw with pixel art and the character ( the cube) is. I know this is a conceptual choice but for me it was a bit distractin. The audio was fine and worked well with the rest of the game.

Nice game, the platform jumping was a little floaty, but after my third time through I was able to control him well enough. Great take on the theme, and graphics and audio was nice as well. Great job on your first Jam!

Thank you for your feedback @pedro-rosa, we made the character evolution and background evolution quite separated which led to this difference. We will gladly work on these discrepancies =)

Thanks @doug-graham, we are aware that there is a physics problem on the platforms. Thank you for playing and glad you liked it non-the-less.

Very awesome game, I was even able to smile. Although people not working on Unity will not understand). It is a pity that it is difficult to develop it into a future project.

I found the controls and the physics pretty unpredictable and that didn't help the global feeling of the game. Music and sounds are ok, graphics are quite nice, I would have played it longer if I wasn't forced to start over every time the first boss hits me.

Thank you @paulsams, glad you enjoyed it. We are already collecting a lot of ideas that would lead into A LOT of content, so maybe maybe. We are definitely working on it, no matter if it will be a release title one day or just to keep on learning Unity skills.

We are aware of a lot of physics problems and the boss multi-hit problem @crazyrems. We will work on it to make everything more stable and predictable in terms of physics, features and graphical style. We are sorry that the issues are occuring for you, glad you still liked playing it =)

Had a fun few minutes with this game. I eventually quit when I fell between two small platforms in the flames. The size of those platforms and the floaty controls seemed like a challenge too far. Great result for your first jam, I'd enjoy playing a fixed version.

Fantastic! Really gorgeous and really good audio. I found a bug when trying to go to the boss, if you go left before it's moved over to it, then you get locked off the screen and can't fight.

I knew one of the "start from nothing" games would be something like this and I am not disappointed. You guys did a great job making the game feel like it was being created as you progress (just needs 20 cans of empty monster energy drinks). The animations from the square to the bipedal character were great and well juiced. I also got a good chuckle from all those script names. Only problem is the platforming was awkward due to feeling a floaty (possibly due to gravity not being strong enough) plus very small platforms to land on, this wouldn't be so bad if the camera didn't follow the player so tightly making it hard to see the ground you want to land on. Also wasn't sure if this was intentional but my controls were reversed when I got to advance movement.

Despite all this I am impressed with the amount of things done in 72 hours and still rate this game highly and recommend it to my friends. Great Job!

Very good game!

The platforming is a bit frustrating but it's ok!

For a remake: please add checkpoints every second screen!

all is very well realized , solid entry for sure
just two thing to improve for perfection ;)

1 ) too many /floaty on moving

2 ) if you keep the floaty give respawn point

I have to be honest. I didn't like the game. Controls are to floaty, and character is to slippery to my taste. For me full control over my character in platformers is very important, otherwise it becomes unpleasant very quickly. I can tell you guys are new to game making and there is nothing wrong with being new. But I want you guys to get better so I give you few tips. I'm not a programmer, I'm a lever designer and pixel artist. Level design seems to be fine but I haven't got pass the pit with fire balls. Till that point it was ok. The idea is very interesting and fit's the theme nicely as well. Now graphics. Ohh boy, you guys have committed the biggest no no when it comes to pixel art. In unity whenever you import new sprites, you want to make sure each of the imported sprites will have same pixel per point value. Your pixel art looks lovely, problem is it gets ruined by different scalling. You can see that trees are two times smaller in scale than te main character, and tile set itself is even smaller. Also the enemy sprites seems weird and out of place. All of this creates this visual feel of a Frankenstein game or an asset flip if you prefer. It's something I would try to avoid by any cost in the future if I were you.

Please continue making games, I really want to see how much you guys will improve in April.

Before I start: I hope I don't come off as too harsh, it's because I really love the concept here and want to see it improved upon.

This game was truly just not fun to play through. It was rather tight platforming, and the absurdly slippery controls made it a pain to do even the most simple segments. I couldn't make it past the boss because I moved too fast and either hit him or fell into the pit within seconds of entering the fight. Alongside that, every time you die you get sent back to the title screen which makes it very unforgiving for what is trying to be a fun, more casual experience. Graphics and audio are your saving grace, it makes the unappetizing gameplay at least somewhat palatable. Keep that all in mind in April, though, and I think you could have a stellar game.

I had fun playing this game. The art is quite pretty, and the audio is on point too. The concept is great, I want to keep playing to see the progression. But it's just..too difficult. I couldn't even pass the fireball thing LOL.
Great game nonetheless!

I really like the concept of game and your pixel art is amazing, definitely. Music and sounds perfectly complement this. Cons have already been named above - too sensitive controls. Maybe you'll do an update, it would be cool!

I really enjoyed the idea, and the screenshots motivated me to try a few times to get to the end, but boy are the controls frustrating! I'm just too bad at this kind of games I guess, but the frustration of going back to the very start, and having to struggle with the platforms to get the easy mode, every single time, sadly killed it for me. I couldn't get past the first enemy, and believe, that makes me sad.

Truth is that the movement is bit tricky, but from my point of view, I like a challenge. So I took that as it is and really enjoyed Your entry. The idea is really amazing, and it constantly keeps you wanting to get more scripts. Thank you for this nice experience. Great job!

Thank you for playing and the kind words, @adngdb. Yeah, the controls are quite hard and sadly inconsistent at this point, it's challenging but even too challenging, took me a while myself to get the hang of it and well, I played it a lot for testing =D Don't be sad, we are working on improvements and a slower angle for the difficulty of the game.

@jin9310, glad you see the challenge in there  Glad you liked it, we already have a lot of ideas for more scripts and more dynamics in getting scripts, loosing scripts and maybe some tweaking on the script for the player himself. Thank you for the kind words.

I really liked the idea! I didn't have any problems with the controls. But, I had issues with the camera. When I am in the air after a jump, I am unable to see the platform I want to jump to. This becomes quite a problem when the platform is very small. It's a great game and some tweaks will make it even better. The music is fine as are most of the sound effects. I would change the sound that plays when you pick up the can that changes the player and the map.

Thank you for your feedback @actual-potato-69. We are glad you like it. Yeah, the controls is more like "too hard of a challenge" than an actual problem. We are aware of some camera issues and we are glad to announce that we are working on the game and already got a better working camera for it as well as we tweaked a lot of things already. Thank you for further feedback and we will include it in future updates which we will announce here on the gamepage.
