FEED HOLE by Aj Jones

GYGA was created to fulfill the end of history, but succeeded beyond it's creators intent. A supercomputer, corrupted by entropy and bound to the planets core, feeds off data to stay alive and is the only thing staving off the collapse of reality. Also there is a lobster. Capture rogue automatons and saddle them onto the immortal crustacean to cast the robotic prey into the maw of GYGA. The more the mechanical teeth gnash, the more you KEEP IT ALIVE, but be warned, there is no sacrifice too great for GYGA. Do you smell toast or is that just me?

Post Jam Hotfix: Did a couple little tweaks to make the WebGL version more playable. Had to remove some audio effects in FMOD, and force the load to happen prior to gameplay. Also removed a large amount of mesh colliders for simple box colliders, hopefully this will allow WebGL to work a bit better!

Additionally the lobster has decided not to get stuck anymore, and will scoot to you a bit quicker.

(Has anyone found the melee weapon yet?)

Hope you all enjoy!

This game is a blast! I played the web version and was getting some serious lag issues when fighting mutliple enemies as once, but it was great none the less. I couldn't really distiguish the performance of the two weapons, I just ended up using them both as AOE. Really cool concept and fits great with the theme!

The whole concept was funny and you set up the tutorial nicely. The art was cool and gameplay was fine. Some soundfx were pretty jarring and it could use some UI indicators like 'E to pickup' etc. The crab companion was lovely. Well done!

The graphic style is really cool, gg on the other hand I had a sound bug, your source audio is not called several times in the code?

The art is great, and the game is really fun! It is very laggy for web, so that may require some optimizations, but other than that, awesome game!

Loved the style and mood here, very unique. I like mah lobster too. Gunplay didn't feel that satisfying and I was disappointed you couldn't jump into the chomping teeth.

This has such good 90s early CGI jank energy. Bizarre and fun!

Audio issues similar to what others mentioned.

I love the atmosphere and setting of this game, the design of the units and the environment really helps to sell the story. I lost track of my lobster at one point and he got caught on some rocks when I tried to send him back (intentional?). It was a bit hard to tell when my bullets were hitting enemies and whether or not they were defeated. Still, the game kept me engaged and GYGA's taunts were both terrifying and hilarious! A suggestion, maybe power cores could be used to heal as well as to feed GYGA?

Your web build is broken! Fortunately I tried the download as well. It was a cool game, the graphics looked fantastic, the music was pretty cool but some of the sound effects felt off. I was a bit confused as to what to do at first since the robots are so far away from where the player starts. A small note: it would be nice to have some UI graphic to show whether or not the lobster is toggled. I love the lobster, great game overall.

@yeo-niki The power cores heal you for a little bit each time you stash them on the Lobster!

A weird/surrealist game? For that reason, you already get a lot of points from me. I loved how evertyhing connects in this game. Initially from the screenshots I thought it would be a take on Donut County, but after playing I saw it is its own game.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! We had a great time making it.
@luke-perkin Keep playing, you may be pleasantly surprised :smiling_imp:
@yeo-niki Mr.Lobby had a crustacean transformation and may turn into flying mr.lobby if he gets stuck
@piturnah We moved the spawners a bit closer to the player spawn and I will work on adding some visual indication for Mr.Lobby following or not. Thanks for the tips!

The graphics are fantastic, really good job! Shooting enemies could use a bit more feedback, it was hard to tell if I was doing damage to enemies or not. I like the lobster idea! The music fits very well. Overall, well done, that's an impressive job!

Also, kudos for the Banjo&Kazooie like dialoge :D

Blazingly good graphics, but the web build is so laggy on my computer >.< I think you can optimize it a little bit on the particle effects side. And omg the lobster is cute :o.

I love my new lobster friend! Game is super fun and I love this take on the theme. You're keeping Gyga's hunger meter alive, but so Gyga keeps the rest of the world alive! Only complaints are that it seemed that my projectiles had a limited range, forcing close combat, in which it was difficult to see what was going on with all the particle effects and explosions.

@valeth2124 Thanks! we'll keep that in mind, but if you get a chance try the download version, even has a couple more effects that add to the vibe!

Tons of fun madness. Sounds sometimes glitched out but that didn't detract from the wild weapons and effects. Crashed on hitting escape (too many times?). Still more stable than the release version of No Man's Sky and with twice as much gameplay.

p.s. loved the helicopter bots falling apart when shot and weird gun bubbles!

Loved the game! There was a lot of content, the controls were fun, and the game itself had a really distinctive feel to it. Really enjoyed playing it, and would love to see a post-jam expansion. My only bit of critique would be that the hit detection can be a little buggy on the html version. Either way, fantastic submission, really enjoyed playing it.

Wow pretty cool! I played the web version and after respawning from being killed, I couldn't switch to any weapons, and getting killed again didn't fix it. Great intro and the companion was a neat idea. I also didn't know where to find enemies at first, and eventually found a LOT of them at once. Overall great job!

Had a blast with it, the sound is on point and I like the grainy look. Controls are on point, smooth but not floaty.

Nice work! The game is really fun. The art is kinda weird but it works well. I picked up one of the propeller things at one point, but I couldn't give it to the lobster, or use it as a weapon (maybe I'm just not doing it right).

I love the lobster.

@jcourt if you click fire while holding that, it will spin and you can hit the robots with it! I think you're the first to find that!

Brutal entry man! All the pieces of this game are so surreal! The audio really immersed me in the alien-ultra-sci-fi setting. Weapons system a bit weird, all my guns where substituted by propellers =(
Excellent entry anyway. Honestly felt on a super schi fi world/situation. Good job

That was fun! The one problem I had was my lobster friend never came back, I think it was after I died, and when I tried to feed the mouth myself it bounced off! haha

Lol at the runescape lobster main menu cursor. Weird but interesting game where you serve your big mouth alien overlord. Sadly the spotty filter used for the textures hurt my eyes too much to play for long.
