The Facility by Feiko

[raw]
made by Feiko for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

For anyone that doesn't care about the description and just want to download the game the links are at the bottom of the entry, but I highly recommend to read the small description so you can get a grasp about what the game is about.

The Facility is a top-down shooter game developed by Jero Eyras Fernandez , Camilo Lopez Sigüenza and Federico J. Lagar for the Ludum Dare Game Jam 47 You play as an US Marine in space you need to break the loops in order to complete the stage and go further untill you meet the boss. Are you ready to break the loop?

Controllers -

Left shift - dash

Mouse - aim weapon

Mouse left button - shoot

WASD - Move R- reload

I normally don't like posting images of something that appears in the endgame of the game but this is too beautiful to not post it. This is the boss that our Artist Camilo drew for us he is a son of a gun at drawing.

The lighting and mood were nice. The voice over added a lot to the repetition

I didn't finish this game, which is a shame because I truly love the art. It's the best I've seen of the jam so far. The gameplay isn't bad either. It is a bit disappointing that enemies will spawn on/next to you with no warning, but I view that as a minor thing, especially in a game jam. I just have trouble because I expect the dash to agree with your WASD direction, but instead it goes toward your cursor. this caused ALL of my deaths. I don't know if that's really a fault with the game, but after many tries I've decided to give up on fixing that muscle memory problem. I think it might just be Enter the Gungeon having too much influence on me. Anyway, I wanted to say that despite the fact that I didn't finish the game, I really enjoyed it and want to complement your art direction and gameplay implementation.

@allbetsareoff Dayum thanks for your amazing feedback the game is supposed to be hard, so I don't blame you for not finishing it and the keys of completing it are easter eggs as you may have noticed the art is amazing (I'm the coder) our graphic designer took a lot of effort I thought a lot about the cursor dash and I thought it'd be more skilled if you had to also aim your dash that allows you also to dash in 360 degrees instead of 8 directions that makes it harder but easier once you master that skill anyways thanks for playing and leaving your amazing feedback that made us very glad

Really nice how this game is routing you. Really like vibe and mood. I'm really curious about background of the in-game universe.

Pretty cool! Nice job! Could really scale this game out to something impressive. Might need more instructions for newbies though.

This game was fun to play. I enjoyed the shift mechanic it was a ton of fun. The riddles were very challenging for me personally however once I figured it out it was great. The art was pretty cool. The creature design and boss design was very original. The character seems like a character I have seen before. Also the reload graphic was hard to see in the dark. I did like the cooldown mechanic as well. Keep up the great work!

The visuals are great, very clean. Had kind of a spooky atmosphere. I couldn't get past the part where a bunch of rapid fire enemies spawn around you. Wish I could've made it to the cool looking boss!

Cool use of the looping pattern and trying to, with audio, tell the player how to break out of the loops. Pretty straight forward design, I liked the feeling. Please continue with the idea and create a short, full, narrative experience.

Wow! This game is cool! And most importantly our game is very similar bit with more Hotline Miami vibes, will be thankful if you play it too!

Looks great, I like the way you've used coloured and varied lighting to enhance the looks of what could end up being very repetitive areas, due to the looping mechanics, the robotic voice that taunts/talks to you throughout is great for atmosphere as well!

I feel like I was missing something. I could not get past the rapid firing monsters in the 2nd room... Played it on my stream, here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/762084589

@jake-marks welp you was just trying the same thing over and over again and it wasn't working maybe that means that that's not the way you are supposed to complete that stage I would like to tell ya the way to do it but that would be too much of a spoiler for anyone who reads the comment and decides to play the game anyways thanks a lot for playing our game on your stream jake I appreciate it I'm gonna go check your game

Very nice art, I really liked the lightning, that is very well done. The mechanics is interesting, I think it's quite nice take on the theme. I just think, that the enemies were spawning too close to you, so in some rooms it was quite hard.

@flying-basement-studios thanks for the feedback yep the enemies sometimes appear close to you but you have a long distance dash to get out of those kind of skirmishes quite easiely we did it that way to force the players to use all the mechanics the game offers making it harder to play (our goal was to make a difficult game) did you manage to finish the game ?

That's a very impressive game!
The controls are very comfortable.
The graphic looks spooky and beautiful. The music sounds really good.
I didn't manage to get to the boss yet, but I'm sure when I'll try it again and I'll have enough power for that, of course, I'll try to beat him.

Good luck!
