D'ough! A sourdough starter simulator

Laggy wants to learn how to make sourdough starter. He's heard that if he can keep his starter alive, he can breed the same starter over and over to make endless baking products.

He's got time on his paws and friends he can't visit. Some of them are even forgetting what he looks like! Can he mature his sourdough starter quickly enough to rescue his ailing friendships?

Probably not! Because he's a sloth.

All writing, graphics, music, and sound effects created in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 46: Keep It Alive.

Not going to lie, this was tough. I like the concept, I love the music and the idea of a sloth making sourdough. I just had trouble starting. Even clicking on the cook book only helped so much. I would recommend some simple arrows to show you where things are and in what order to use them. Just once, then set me free into the bread making wild! But other then a bit of a confusing start, Good job!

I was slightly confused in the beginning, but great music!

I really love the idea! Great theme music and art... I, like the others, had a hard time doing stuff in the game and gave up.

Rock on guys, great work nonetheless

This game has a nice concept. I like the idea and the sloth but it was a bit glitchy, also as a heads up your updated link didn't work so I had to go with the original link. The music was nice and looks like a nice start to a game.

@virtuaworlds Thanks for the heads up! I had wondered what was going on ...

@xart2012 @niconeko @tony-artz @creamybacon2 @david-greene @ismael-rodriguez The bugfix version is now working, if you're interested in seeing what we did with the game so we could enact our original vision!

This is super cool! I think the concept and general vibe is possibly a bit cooler than the experience though - it feels like a very rich sloth sourdough simulator, but it's a bit obtuse and the 12 page in-game instruction manual is a bit much for a Ludum Dare game. But I do feel like I could learn to make sourdough from it, and the graphics and audio are great..

I love the idea and ambition that went into this project, but I feel like it might have been a little bit too ambitious. There are some controls appearing from time to time, but half the time I did not know what I was doing, and also progressing the days did not really tell me anything about the process of my dough.

I did however enjoy myself and the music and and art are great. With a bit more polish and some more unified controls and a better explanation I can see this being a super fun game (maybe even a bit of a rage game?). Well done!

Fantastic music, art, and original concept. You guys obviously poured a lot of work into this entry, and it shows. The gameplay was pretty convoluted though, but I understand there were some features that weren't implemented until the post-jam! I think some simplification of the gameplay would help. As someone who has maintained (and killed) a sourdough starter, I appreciated the realism of the process, including the falling asleep part. ;)

Nice job!

Love the humor and the character design! The audio was really nice too. I've done sourdoughs myself but this was a bit hard and confusing. I managed to get some water in the cup, but I couldn't locate any flower. I probably missed something.

Awesome game! It's probably better to explain things without blocks of text if you can though, I completely skipped it and just wandered around confused for a few minutes. other than that, Great work! I loved the music!
