The Loop by Enver Arco

[raw]
made by Enver Arco for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

WASD or ARROW KEYS to move, SPACE to jump. Press TAB to end your current loop. Press R to restart the current level.

The timer starts once you move the robot. Each robot lasts 20 seconds and its movements will be recorded. When one robots loop ends another begins and you'll see your previous robot loops play out.

Reach the red emblem to advance to the next level. Beware: Colliding with your loops will change the past and thus the future!

Scoring: Time left + 15x loops left + 10x collectibles

NOTE: The WebGL version doesn't support an online leaderboard. To participate, please download the Windows version.

Being able to affect your previous loop is a nice twist compared to most games with similar premises.

Cute graphics & nice concept! Solid entry!

Some feedback: The player movement felt pretty slow and unresponsive, there's a great GDC talk on youtube if you're interested in it.

the game is cool and all but the movement is kind of bad and really awkward.
the robots are cool but a nice animation could make them better.

I like the idea. The controls seem weird though, it feels like you're on ice - not direct enough for me. Other than that great game.

Nice game. I like how you can mess with your past loop. Good work.

This is awesome, you used the persistent previous attempts mechanic really well! The puzzles are cool and definitely make you think. I made it all the way to level 10 but couldn't figure it out after a good number of attempts. I like the visuals too. Great work!

I also liked being able to affect past loops but it took me a bit to realize I only had very limited number of robots or that the vertical axis behaved differently (you can jump on and that's not a collision like a side-side collision). It's slick though.

I thought another platform game but no no no, hitted in the point theme, i feel loops, not exactly stuck in the loop, but they are there indeed.
The movement is anoying cause so much sliding i fall into void many times.
Graphician and lvl designer should be proud of they work i think.
nice game in review.

Awesome job! The only feedback I would have is that the movement felt slow and it was hard to get in the flow at first. But as I played around, it was enjoyable but I just wished for slight increase in speed! Great art style, really fond of the work you did with it! Good job!

Very successful concept and implementation!
Liked the feature of changing your copy's cycle when colliding with it; as well as lifetime on copies. So you need to thought out well your moving.

But it's a bit annoying too long waiting before actually starting (maybe remove countdown when you switching loops?)
Also sometimes hero doing extra steps on small movement.

But anyways, well done!
