A final word

Thank you for playing this 'game'. I really appreciate it and i am super proud of what i've achieved here regardless of where i place.

This was my first ever submission to the Ludum Dare 46 Compo! I previously submitted a game to the Jam in LD42 as part of a team; but this was the first time going solo! As per the Compo rule all assets were made by myself using the following tools:

  • Unity for the engine
  • Aseprite to create the pixel 'art'
  • Bosca Ceoil to create the music
  • Audacity (and my microphone)to create the sound effects.
  • YouTube/Stack Overflow/Google for answers to my gamedev problems.

Finally i tracked what i spent time on. Here's a quick breakdown: Sleeping/Breaks (19hrs), Dev (9hrs), Graphics (7.5hrs), Sound (4hrs), Polishing (6hrs). Total (26.5hrs working).

Nice little Game. Of course, I tried grabbing Peoble :D. I like the Graphics and the simplistic Soundtrack is nice as well. I would have liked to get some Feedback after the round.

I like the fact that you added a dificulty dropdown in such a short amount of time. The game loop is pretty good, and the art that you managed to finish is also good, although a lot of the game doesn't have finished art, from the looks of things, but it is a very short game jam and so most of us are rocking placeholder art throughout our game ;). All in all, a pretty good experience.

I enjoyed the game and it is quiet challenging the longer you survive. Hope you had a great LD46.

Good game was a little confused until I realized I could throw people into the fire! However, being able to win in some way would be nice rather than losing no matter what. Overall really good entry.

You had me laughing, I did not see that twist comming.

Seems to be a problem where after you clear the game, you just die instantly after starting a new one.

I enjoyed playing your game. It has really good graphics and had a good increase of difficulty. I think it would have been nice if their was a way to generate more wood and coal.

Great game!

The game had some nice visuals and the fire sounded nice and cosy. It's funny how I first tried to throw the people into the fire, saddened about the inability of said action just to be greated with such a nice ending

It could have used a little arrow to point you to the nearest piece of fuel, but I am not 100% sure if it really fits the game xD

Overall a funny and well made little game. I love both the music and graphics. The pick up system was a bit funky, but it was not too bad. This a fun little jam game. Well done.

pretty nice idea, would be nice if we were able to burn the NPC too when we run out of wood or coal, also the music and the environment matched perfectly overall fun game

Funny twist. When all the mechanics you have is pick up and toss into the fire, you can see where it's going right away. Very funny that they only shout as if you were pinching them, haha!

As for feedback, maybe you could give some more time and the fire. I also found that not being able to feed the kiln from above to be a bit frustrating.

Probably getting affected by all games i have tested the last hours, but I also wanted (and tried) to put the NPC:s on the fire. :smirk:

Should probably get some sleep.

Nice idea. Controls could be more smooth. Picking up objects easier, without having to face them exactly right, would be nice. Still, in line with the theme, and a nice little game.

I like it, but some feedback here:
- I tried to pick up someone but didn't work, so no pay for my "evilness".
- Material do not spawn often.
- End game is not clear, so I assume is a never ending game.

**FEED. FEED IT INTO THE FIRE. WE NEED TO KEEP THE FIRE ALIVE. THROW YOURSELF INTO THE FIRE.** Such a simple premise but it somehow reminding me of Dark Souls...

The idea is simple, but proven effective. Here's my two cents:
* The game is properly doable on easy, but not so much in normal and hard... (but omg a drop-down!!! that's unexpected!!)
* You may want to give a temporary sprint button.
* Alternatively, something pointing to the nearest resource would help, but definitely not in this context. It'll feel cheap if you add that.
* At first I was trying to talk to the NPCs. :b
* I was expecting to throw into the fire in 360 degrees, but makes sense now why it's only in the front. But with such limited resources, the time to go around is usually not worth it.
* It's pretty clear materials do not spawn. I was expecting to but, how the dialog was going I definitely know what to do next. I love that.
* On the side, you could have gone even more crazy where the rocks are actually coal and even throw that statue into the fire.
* That's all, actually. Usually I would suggest more.

This is very good as a first compo entry! Great work~

i almost stopped playing this game while collecting wood as i thought the process would be endless. The twist happened just in time for me to have not given up, and the end was just inevitable! great story telling.

Nice work! Just a heads up, the game is called "Fuel the Fire", but the ludum Dare page says "Feed the Fire"

Had a great time playing this! Fun, and lighthearted, with a funny twist. I was wondering if it would be infinite.

Wow, I did not expect this game to be so violent xD. Cute graphics and music, the concept is fun, I just think it lacks a little something to make improve the experience: maybe random events or items harder to catch, etc.

Well done!

Nice game! I went out of fuel though. And it would have been "fun" if you could end up picking up other people and make them burn :)

Cute and simple, I like it! Something to add more variety to gameplay would have been nice, maybe a way to make it endless with increasing difficulty so your goal is to last as long as possible. As is, just losing after you run out of fuel is kind of unsatisfying. Overall though, for a simple little jam game, it's fun!

Nice game. My only problem was the spawn rate of the items, but a very good and polished game.
