Disclaimer

This game was built in 48 hours for the Ludum Dare 46 Compo, with the theme 'Keep it Alive'. The game is fully playable, but I ran out of time for a few things, including sound. But if enough people like this game I will improve it and add the missing features.

Thank you to everyone who leaves a rating and feedback. Big love and respect to anyone who competed in this Jam.

I like the idea of a robot (something non-living) trying to keep a plant (living) alive. Almost reminds me of WALL-E! The gameplay loop of going from plant growing to water collection is well executed!

Lol at the full grown plants face reminds me of a ducky:).

constructive feedback: It would have been nice if the water collecting level was randomly generated. The jump felt kinda like a jetpack. Maybe some indication when you take damage too? little particle effect.

positive: Cute sprites and level was easy to visually understand; I've seen a few today that were hard because the level art wasn't great, but that was not a problem for yours. The progression of the plant was simple, but surprisingly very satisfying. It actually made me want to go back and collect more water to see what it would look like when it was fully grown. It did not disappoint (XD). It was very easy to figure out how to play, bonus points for that in overall.

Overall good project. :)

I appreciate that you basically made a game within a game, I know that can be difficult
It was really gratifying to see my plant thriving in the end. However I think two things would have made the game loads better. First, platforming is all about jumping so jumping needs to feel super fun, one specific example is being able to control the height of your jump. Second, I was really missing some audio, specifically some background music (switching between two tracks based on the scene would be cool), and sound effects for things that should feel gratifying (leveling up your plant, and jumping between platforms).
Sorry for all the suggestions, good job on your game!

great conceot !!

things that would improve this game and it would end up being a great game:

- best graphics

- more levels (diferents)

- more and diferents plants

- enemies and ia

Not bad with a game within a game. You could really get some high jumping with that gravity. It's going to take a while to terraform one seed at a time. Keep that robot working! Nice job.

definitely like the idea of the two game modes - and as others said, can be hard to pull those two together in a jam. A fun one :)
My main criticism would be the feel of the platforming, I would prefer if it felt more weighty.

Going between the modes of plant keeping and finding resources was a nice game idea, and seeing the plant grow up at the end was satisfying.

I feel like there should be another way to lose other than dying to the spiders, like the plant drying out after some time or maybe some other threat to the plant's survival, so that you're fighting more to keep the plant alive than yourself. It was also pretty easy to avoid the spiders, and I think they could be placed closer to the main water collecting path in the level to make it more difficult.

I like the idea of going to collect a resource before bringing it back to grow the plant. There was no immediate danger of the plant dying though, which I feel could have been a nice touch. In addition to that, having the spiders move around or some other factor that could disrupt the player would have been a decent feature.

The jump feels very floaty, so adding some weight to the character would be beneficial, as well as the ability to fall faster by holding S or the down arrow key.

Nice idea! Hope to see more games from you!

The games has perfect fit with the theme, in any terms. The concept is pretty good and could be fun. I think the controls are not really good and the sprites could use some animation. A timer for the levels would make it harder. Also the UI could use some more love.
