Fishing Survivor Extreme by nizlow

[raw]
made by nizlow for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

Hi, this is my entry for LD46 "Keep it alive"!

In this game you have an aquarium and start with 2 fish. Your job is to keep your fish healthy and alive so they can populate. For that you can give your fish food, a cleaning or repair the oxygen pump! You also can reset the cooldowns, because the more fish you have, the more they need their needs.

Controls are fairly simple, click on the icons in the top left to apply one of the effects. The pump has to additionially be clicked with the wrench!

F - fast reset the first cooldown that needs a reset (from left to right)
ALT - show debug information (some data about fish and pump)
M - to unmute/mute music

The game is over, when you don't have any fishes anymore. All assets and code have been made by myself, but this time with no sound effects from myself because I thought it would be weird when the fishy sounds everytime something happens.

Thanks for reading and playing, if you leave a comment I will definitely check out your game aswell!

Hey this looks cool! I want to play, but the link to the Zip file seems to be bad. I get a 505 internal server error when trying to follow it

Argh I think GitHub actually has server problems right now :(

I really liked it. But after a short while there are overwhelmingly many fish :-)

It's a neat concept with satisfying progression. Reminds me of clicker games in a way. Overall it was quite fun though :)

so many fish! This was fun! I was struggling at first, but once I realized I had to sacrifice points to reset the cooldowns faster, I was able to keep quite a few fish alive (over 500). The only thing I was confused about: does it matter where I click and release the food/oxygen? it seems like it is just randomly spread over the whole tank. I'm not sure if I was supposed to be trying to target certain fish that needed the food/oxygen over others. Still, a really nicely done 'simulator' type game.

Nice idea. Took a few minutes to figure out, but once I did, it's very easy to get a lot of fish. Seems difficult to lose at that point.

Hey there twin game of mine! That was a really fun game, and I think I did pretty decent. Really like the balancing between food, cleaning, and oxygen, but I think it'd be better if it didn't peak at so many fish so you could see them better on the screen. At my highest point it was just a wall of food/oxygen/dirty bubbles. Other than that small thing, I think you've got a great game here, and I hope you keep expanding on it after the jam.

After some iterations there is really easy to stay in the game. Funny fish with the speak buble :D. Maybe add some mechanic to hit the fish with the food to get some bonus.

Kind of addicting when I figured out how to play. Really engaging to push as far as possible, beyond thousands of fish at the same time! Good job :)

Fun simulation game! It does need a little bit of balancing, as others have noted - you can get an enormous amount of fish swimming about after a while and there's no win state as far as I can tell, but otherwise an enjoyable experience :)

If you will forgive me quoting one of the worst Godzilla movies of all time: "That's a lot of fish"

That was quite a nice little game and a very impressive piece of work for a compo! Everything seemed to work as intended and I didn't notice any bugs. Graphics are simple but informative and the music was alright as well.

A nice Compo Game entry! I had fun till 500 fishes XD Since it's a "Clausterfuck" of fishes, I would have put them doing annoying sounds on pourpose or some player complaining grunts XD
