Silicon Soldiers by Hueson

Untitled-1.png

The only thing between the natives and the destruction of your livelihood is you.

In the desert outskirts of the metropolis Corpus your Collector must defend her miners by any means necessary. Whether that’s by gunning down the local fauna or blocking their attacks with your own body all you're there for is silicon.

Fight or defend but you must complete your duty as a Silicon Soldier.

If you are having trouble hitting enemies check to see if you are above 60Hz. Setting to 60Hz should solve this.

Really good overall! I loved all the character art; however, the environmental art was a little lacking. But that is understanding given the time limit. Other than that, the gameplay was great.

Fun game, i enjoyd it quite thouroughly. i was pressured to go quickly and found myself sometimes not even going for the upgrades, it was a interesting balance of making decisions and constantly going against the clock. great character art, definitly my favorite part about the game. easy to pick up.

Great game! Oh man, I really love that soundtrack.

Also great to see that you guys used Godot as well :-)

Btw. I had to `chmod +x Silicon\ Soldiers.app/Contents/MacOS/Silicon\ Soldiers` to get it running. Maybe it's just me or .zip format doesn't preserve x flags?

A lot of good character designs and animation. The music is awesome as well. The mechanics were easy to understand after completing the tutorial. One critique I have is that the weapons were pretty finicky and hard to use. I would be very interested in seeing different strategies for how to get the most silicon within the time limit. Good job!

Someone already noted that the character is moving slowly, for me it kills fun fun from using short-range weapons. But it’s possible it’s just taste)

I rarely see games on the Godot engine :) You have a very beautiful pixel, the atmosphere of the game is very pleasant!

Great game. The visuals, audio, and music really bring everything together. Was really fun to play! Was a little disappointed how the most expensive weapon was basically unusable. Tutorial was really easy to follow an explained everything nicely. I think an online high scores would have been a nice touch to see how you compare against others. Overall really solid game.

The menu and the character art are very impressive ! You've got a talented graphist, but I think the quality of the menu was at the expense of the terrain. But given the time limit, that's completely ok. Nice job :ok_hand:

An excellent Game, sound and graphics are amazing. I like gameplay, but a weapon and arm target and maybe a regenerative life bar (Immortal can def a lot of cristal :p ) would have put this game to a perfect level :) .

Awesome art and audio. Fairly challenging to play but really fun once you get the hang of it. Great entry!

This is very fun! I love the inversion of the typical bullet hell mechanic where you try to get hit by as many projectiles as possible. It's also very fun trying to optimize by leaving miners before they're done and running multiple at once. I didn't play with all of the other weapons, but I didn't like most of them as much as the base weapon. The combination of fire rate and range was just very nice.

Very nice game, the art and sound are great.

I like the idea of being able to tank the hits for the miner, the different weapons and the gameplay "loop" are a little underwhelming but the game is enjoyable anyways

OMG, the music in the start screen is absolutely amazing! I love the graphics and the used color palette. Really nice Work.

The gameplay loop was a bit lacking, but flipping the tower defense idea around was neat. It didn't feel worth it to run all the way back for a new weapon in the 2 runs I played.
Great music, and sprites for what was there. It felt a bit barren without any doodads or variation on the ground.
Overall nice entry, keep up the good work.

Awesome game! The art and music are very well down. And I love the concept of the game. My only problem was the complete lack of feedback when the miner is damaged. I could be defending one side, only to discover my miner was at half health because another enemy had appeared off screen.
But, other then that, awesome work!

@alexey-kuzovkov @giulia Sorry you guys had trouble </3.
someone above had an issue too. They said doing chmod +x Silicon\ Soldiers.app/Contents/MacOS/Silicon\ Soldiers but I have no advice on how you get that done. No one on the team has a mac so we just exported and hoped for the best.

Defending with your body is a very interesting mechanic, but I found both the gameplay and the different weapons a bit plain. Graphics and audio are top notch though!

Blocking the shots was a very interesting idea that has synergy with the balance of various weapon ranges, overall the gameplay was a little simple but solid, it has a lot of potential for more options if you decide to create a post-jam version. Music was a highlight as well!

Thanks for reviewing my game! I loved your game, the art and graphics were great! Heres some feedback :
1. Dead silicon harvesters block projectiles, maybe unintentional?
2. The art for the shooting was very pronounced, maybe spruce up the shots so they're easier to see on screen

Otherwise its very good!

I really liked your game! It's pretty well done in all areas, not much to talk about. Improvements I would make would be slowing down the snipe fire rate and make it 1hit ko, I think distant enemies made it almost impossible to save a fast shining rock miner.
