Dog Signal - Ludum Dare 46 entry by vivek.sharma20

[raw]
made by vivek.sharma20 for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

My solo submission for LD46. A mutt is trying to save monster from turning of signal. Game has three modes easy medium and god mode.

Easy - Normal Medium - Enemy speed is a bit faster God Mode - Ability to throw arrows more quickly.

Game developed in unity. Art work in Ipad. No in game audio.

As always, there are a lot of things I still wanted to do.But time is not a luxury. Nonetheless, enjoyed making this little thing. Tried to incorporate different elements to make it more fun.

I love the art style. While the game seams easy it get's really diffecult over time. love it!

This is really good. If I may add a suggestion: I would like it better if the player moved smoothly rather than in fixed distances.

thanks @gal-afik I was contemplating both the options at design phase. This way players speed remains constant and only variable is the speed at which arrows can be spawned, if movement is smooth i had to play around with what is the optimum speed vs arrow spawn speed, so cut few corners in that :)

Very nice game, reminded me of some old school games I used to love as a kid.
I loved the art style.
Only recommendation would have been if the game could get harder and harder (maybe more enemies).
I only got to 30, but that's because I kept getting impatient, however I feel without the changing in speed I could do it for ages if I really wanted to.

Overall though, great game, well done! :D

Really enjoy the wind effect that was done with the trees and stuff.

The graphics are very unique and well done. The gameplay is a bit simple and at times I did not really understand the collision of the enemies with the bones, it felt a little unforgiving in that aspect. But regardless, happy that you took part and hope to see more of your games with this art style!

Very simple, but sweet. Would have loved more controls though

i guess that something was wrong with the mechanics whil i was playing. the baloons stoppt right in the air, sometimes i could not use the keys to go up again. somehow the game was game over and i did not have any idea why. buit i like the idea behind it. and the graphics somehow.

Neat graphics!
Too bad the game does not have audio, although the fact that you were alone makes the final work impressive!
I did not find the game fitting theme-wise, but the game's still simple and efficient! I really should stop putting exclamation points everywhere!

Pretty net! Really liked the art style. The screen shake felt a bit too aggressive and short in my opinion. Bit lit less movement magnitude and a bit longer shake time would probably feel better. The sound effects that were there were good but would have needed more. Like the dog spawning and turning into a balloon could easily have some neat sounds too. Maybe moving your ship too.

Had some weird scaling issues when going full screen. The score indicator was weirdly positioned. The dogs didn't drift to the correct position before they started eating your bones either. Also, the background environment clipped too on left side at least.

The gameplay was super simple but quite solid in its simplicity. The movement didn't really serve much purpose. Felt like the best strategy was to just stay almost all the way down and time your shots correctly. It was almost a lost cause if you miss a shot. Well you can save one maybe two situations if you get lucky. The game does get repetitive very fast.

Since it's pretty much a single button game, you could have made that same button function as a start button on the menu view too. Would make it just smoother to play without need to swap from keyboard to mouse between tries.

Anyways, good job!

The art was pretty good, and I really liked the base mechanic of the game. The controls felt a bit clunky however, despite the fact that I almost never used them. Overall great game!

Nice art, mechanics could have been a bit more clean. The arrows moved too slow in my opinion, especially with how fast the enemies move. Maybe more lives than three? I dunno, don't let people tell you how to make your game haha. Nice job!

Love the simple art and mechanics! Great entry! Reminds me of an old game I played 30 years ago called Pooyan.

I like the hand drawn art and the wind animations. :) I found I could just camp at the bottom and kill the enemies when they spawned, which might be a gameplay bug. Otherwise, nice entry!

Great game! I really enjoyed playing it. There is a bug, where the enemies doesn't get to the bones, and I can't shoot them.
