SpaceLoop Defender by xatulu

[raw]
made by xatulu for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

TL;DR:

Shoot outer enemies, don't shoot inner ships!

Wavebased shooter, looking the player on a loop.Bildschirmfoto 2020-10-05 um 00.47.57.png Using the Mouse (or the Keyboard if setup in the Options), you can move around the Planetary Loop. You are the small pyramid situated atop one of the brackets.

Your goal is to defend the Planet and it's Space Loop by destroying all anomalies, that aim for the planet. You can destroy those anomalies with your blaster (Left Mouse Click or Space Button).

Don't shoot at the space travelers going to the Spaceloop! Make sure to catch them before they crash into the Loop!

To activate your shield for a certain amount of time, press Shift! Rumor has it, that some anomalies drop smart bombs that can be launched with the left control key!

Technical Stuff:

  • Made completely with Construct3
  • Sounds with BXFR, Music with BeepBox

Source Files sadly are just the Construct3 files - the backend for the Highscore server is not available.

Nice concept. It took me a little time to figure out that I shouldn't destroy my ships, but it was fun once I figured out out. Good difficulty curve

I don't know why but I wasn't seeing any anomalies to shoot at, just the little ships to catch. Although I thought it was hilarious that you got negative 10k points for the planet blowing up.

I liked the changing art styles that was cool. it took me ages to work out what the travellers were and that I had to actually catch them, I spent a while shooting them thinking they were bad guys at the start

Really fun game. Like the cool filters that change the look of the game every now and then. :)

I like the mechanic of moving between the game-fields of the inner and outer loops, it added a nice layer of complexity! Overall I enjoyed this entry!

Not bad! I was a little confused as to how lives worked, though.

@shashwat @lelulagames @thedarkmagi @indiedevdan @kantieno Thank you very much for your feedback and taking the time to play my game!

@quadtree Thanks for the feedback - I guess that was a big oversight on my site, should have explained that better!

Solid game! Sometimes the little bombs coming from the bottom are a bit hard to react to because there isn't much screen space there. Cool music and sfx.

@el-pepi thank you very much for playing - and yes, you definitely are right, the inner stuff is hard to react to! Could definitely use more polish/tweaking!

Nice entry that fits the theme. You should explain better how catching ships work, it took me a long while to figure out that I was supposed to wait for them with my pyramid under them. Reacting to the enemies coming from below was really hard, maybe they should move slower.

Nice concept! Would be a lot of fun with some interface tweaks (make it obvious what the relationship is between shooting things and your score, positive and negative juice, better typography, etc).

Nice game! Of course I didn't read the description before playing so in my first try I shoot down all space travelers oops :)

@flying-dog-fish Thanks for plaiyng the game and giving solid feedbakc on what can be improved - totally aggree with you!

@cyborg-studio Yeah, I think I should also do more stuff between all those LDs to also hone my skills on the side. I think there would be way more things that could helped the game be more fun if i wouldn't only use the engine once a year..

@zimny11 haha, I feel you - I noticed that a lot of people make that mistake and going forward I should go back to including a tutorial like I did in my last game!
