The Village Alchemist by Falzock

[raw]
made by Falzock for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

tva1.pngIn the game you have to survive in a medieval zombie-apocalypse. To survive you have to build up walls, which protect your village. Another part of the game is, that you have to brew a medicine to heal infected citizens from being zombies.

You can pin up orders so the citizens can help you to find resources for the walls or the medicine.

But be careful...the zombies are waiting!

I really liked the environment/art/music/SFX. The game feels very polished. I don't really know what I can give you as advice besides some polish. The game itself is great for a game made in such a short amount of time!

Nice art style. It would benefit from some more / variation in sound effects to draw attend when things are happening.

Overall nice game. Took some time to figure out how it all worked but very nice. Maybe it would be nice if you start with some kind of tutorial were they point you to were to take some water then were the mushrooms are and so on... Just to make the start easier.

Im impressed with the amount of content youve managed to cram in during the jam. A lot of items, a lot of mechanics, a lot of different sprites etc. And the graphics are also quite nice. Qute the daring (hah..) task to make a questing-item-management-altering-enemy-interaction-rpg game for a jam, and you seem to have pulled most of it of! The game felt very laggy though, not sure if it was due to the HTML 5 build (I've experienced a lot of lags with unity there before as well), or if it was the camera "stepping" rather than lerping, but it's something which could hopefully be fixed easily if you continue on the game after the jam :)

I got stuck because I put too many different objects in the cauldron and couldn't empty it :joy: Nice idea, but I felt like the zombies entered the village a bit too soon

I couldn't figure out how to craft a stein, so I couldn't enjoy the most important resource: beer.

Otherwise, I like the concept. Really you need to know what you're doing to do well, and it took me a few tries just to safeguard the walls (kind of) but even then it was overwhelmed pretty quickly. I'm not sure if zombies just perpetually spawn or if villagers are just getting overwhelmed by something else, but it felt like I practically cured the population early and then was completely overwhelmed suddenly.

I also don't know how to get into the shovel shop, but don't really know how to make use of it.

It's a good concept. But could use either a balance pass or some stats to tell how things are going a little better. Way further down the line, it might be nice to have villagers that do more than just resource gathering (ala blacksmith or specialized healer)

It was fun to try, though, which is more than enough for a game jam entry :)

Sorry still couldn’t figure out how to use the basket. But I got the idea and it is a good game! The tutorial is cute and I think I need more guidance.

I made medicine and it seemed like some of the villagers were injured but I couldn't seem to figure out how to give it to them. Had I made the wrong kind or was I doing an incorrect interaction?
