Nice game really enjoyed the puzzles, is there an end though? (I got to level 17).

I liked the game and the puzzles. I think that the background color on some parts is a bit too much, at least my eyes started to hurt a little on level 7 I believe. I also manage to get stuck in one of my plays in level 9, I fell in a pit and couldnt find the way out.
I liked the hints on the screen when the player keeps repeating itself and liked the implementation of loop.

@themosterts, thank you. There is an end. The game ends at level 20.

hahahaha when I went back through that first portal and it threw me over the edge xD love it! although there should 100% be some more warning about the flashing screen. thank god I don't suffer from epilepsy

Really nice idea ! I enjoy playing this game. After 5 min it becomes a litle bit boring but still have new blockers for each level ! Congrats

Given that you managed to create the game from scratch without any engine it's an achivment on it s own so you should pat yourself on the back and go on and create some more. I really think you should have put up a warning about the flashing of the screen cus it might be quite troublesome for others. As a sidenote i really don t like the fact that you just have to wait in that pit because i managed to get in that frame quite a few times and feels like it slows down the pace of the game a lot.
Nonetheles, keep up the work and see you in the future man.

I enjoyed the game, different puzzles. There is a bit of a problem in establishing that not everything is what it seems though. At this point I am (like the first poster) stuck at level 17. I jumped the pit. I tried to jump past the robot. I shot the robot while in mid-air (which stopped my forward momentum so I fell into the pit anyway). I tried to walk through a wall. I tried to just wait.

I don't know if I should try to find another entrance from level 16, try to land before the robot and shoot him (maybe mid-air), or jump past the robot. The latter two seem impossible, and the first seems unlikely given the rest of the game. This makes it a bit hard to reason what the possibility space for the puzzle is, which makes me want to give up.

Edit: I managed to get past level 17 (before watching the solution). I don't think the puzzle is well designed, given there is a pretty big penalty (10 seconds?) for failing even if you know which portals to take. I just got reset to level 1 not too long after, after another somewhat uninformed decision (maybe there's a pattern here that I am too tired to spot). (edit2: after watching the playthrough, this was the very last choice to make)

Nice puzzles, with tutorials that are always technically correct but also low-key devilish and misleading. Great idea, but unfortunately at times it got a bit boring to do the same thing again or wait after making a wrong choice.

niceee!! Really cool lateral thinking kind of game, loved it very much!! An amazing Idea and execution, the robot art is really fun haha.. PSA You should probably add some epilepsy warning, there are some really trippy screen flashes.. Nicely executed! Congratulations!

This was REALLY a nice entry, hope you get more ratings. Simple mechanics but well thought out and loved that I had to think outside the box a little to escape the loops. Good take on theme. Great job overall.

This is really clever! I liked how quickly it broke down the expectation that you should do what the tutorial was telling you to do. I’m afraid I got stuck on level 9—thought it might be something to do with interacting with the timer in the corner (which otherwise didn’t seem to have a point?) but I couldn’t figure it out. It sounds like there was a lot more after that, though. Nice work!

This game has a lot of cool ideas! I didn't pay attention to the room I was on before I got reset to Level 1, but it was right after the level with a portal and a door. I can agree with the others when they say that shooting stopping your horizontal movement is a little annoying. Still, great game overall! I enjoyed it!

The flashing screen is... cruel and unusual. Figuring out how to break out of the loop within each level is fun, but setting back to an earlier level only adds to the frustration because I already know how to pass those levels, so I'm just penalized to repeat the exact same work if I make a wrong and arbitrary choice in a later level. Looping back to level 1 at the final level is fine with me, though since the whole game has been experienced.

Cool concept with fun puzzles, but throwing player to earlier levels is cruel and makes the player frustrated. If you miss jump in lvl 19, then same in 18, you get throwed to lvl 16 wich is just a long boring walk.

10. Oct 2020 · 09:06 UTC
I thought it was fairly cute, and fit the theme. Became somewhat repetitive and slow later, especially when I started failing my jumps. It was a nice touch how in the tutorial the way to break the loop was always to not do what the tutorial message implied. Good job!

Cool concept and innovative entry. Quite impressive for something done alone from scratch.

Few negative point that are not major but could be improve:
* some levels are won by doing a pixel perfect action which is, in my opinion, a bad way of making it difficult, especially given the number of good puzzles you had already in.
* when passing through a door, going back through it take you back at the last "big" checkpoint which is a bit harsh in my opinion and not a lot of fun as you already know how to solve the puzzles, just coming back to the last screen would be a better option (same goes for going back multiple levels when failing one) --> this one is quite a big issue in my opinion as it is really frustrating but it can easily be solved
* the transition screen that is the cause of the warning could be less aggressive

Overall, quite a unique entry (at least from what I have played until now) that can be quite frustration (these doors! :p) but nice puzzle game. Congrats, especially on the level design: while some aren't that good, most of them are pretty well thought with a good learning curve.

EDIT and PS at the same time: you should opt out of audio given that you used external assets for background music (even if your sound effects are good)

Very nice idea, it can be expanded in so many ways.

Some thoughts:

\- some variation to the step sfx even if it is just randomizing the pitch. just to keep it fresh.

\- since we walk so much, it would be nice to have a faster speed.

\- I think that sometimes the punishment is too high, like in the level 17 if you fall the pit you get send back to level 16. It does not fit very well with the trial and error vibe that the game has. If you ask me, I think that you should only be send back to start of the current level. so no one would have fear of trying things.

\- also in level 17 it feels so wrong not be able to just shoot diagonally, I don’t know what to make of it
tho.

Love the puzzle!
The punishment on falling from level 17-18 which returns to long walk in level 16 seems a bit too harsh though.
Otherwise, love the solving puzzle and the deceptions!

To be honest, I got tired of the main mechanic fairly quickly. It kinda just boiled down to guess-and-check. I got particularly frustrated on the level where you simply have to wait - in the next level, I guessed the wrong thing to do, so I got sent back... and had to wait again. It was frustrating to sit around doing nothing because of a wrong guess.

I liked the design of the main robot. Pretty impressive that you made this totally from scratch without an engine or anything. Good work.

I really enjoyed this game. Some clever puzzles, some require a bit of patience. The difficult jumping puzzles can be frustrating eg. jumping in front of Level 17 robot. It would've been ok if it didn't take you back to beginning of 16. I got stuck spawning on top of level 15 robots and had to restart the game.
Despite it all I enjoyed the game and made it to the end.

Really well done! Very clever puzzles, the whole experience matched the theme perfectly. I finished around 16:30. Some puzzles were definitely quite tricky, especially since sometimes I couldn't tell if missing a jump was my fault or if I wasn't suppose to make it. I think that was both the biggest strength and potential frustration of the game - not knowing what was possible. It was really fun to try different unusual solutions and test what the game wanted you to do. In some places it maybe crossed the line into frustration, but only minorly. I really enjoyed this, and the level of polish for a jam was fantastic. Great work!

Wow. Great job. You managed to hook so many levels. The game is great all around. My only issue is it is a little frustrating when you are brought 2,3 levels back, because of taking a chance. Usually this is a good mechanic to punish mistakes. But your game is intended for trail and error progress. So when randomly choosing a pit to fall in, I don't feel I make a mistake. I hope you understand my point. I got to level 18 and I quit.
Overall Good job.

I kept on playing so it did invite the player to keep trying different things. I really liked that. The not doing the same thing is awesome. I almost quite with the waiting part. But checked the playthrough and continued. Having to do level 16 a couple of times I did end up quitting though. But all round cool game :D

I can imagine the hard work you put into this game.

the mechiancs of the game are great.

there were a mistake with music because it isn't seamless but it wasn't bad at all.

maybe you should expand the game more because its very fun to play.

The puzzles were great, and it was nice to encourage creative thinking! But sending players back a bunch of levels is definitely not fun and makes players afraid to try stuff, in a game about trying stuff.

Despite watching the solution, my robot won't jump high enough to pass level 18?
