Just A Throw Away by Masaru

[raw]
made by Masaru for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

You wake up next to a cylinder, in what looks like a lab, suddenly you get attacked and die... only to see your spirit rise and take control of the murderer ! Flee you mad... green... spirity-thingy ! Flee to keep the hope of being the character of a good game alive ! But be wary : being possessed is hard on the body and soon enough, it will be noticeable... guards have been ordered to shoot on sight and they won't wait to know if you're friendly or not, or if what they're aiming at is an enemy... or one of your former bodies...

Hi and welcome in this... experience I guess ?

Controls : WASD and left mouse button. Up and down are only used for "elevators" (holes in the ceiling and floor). Left click on an NPC to possess them.

This game doesn't have sounds, sorry. If you reach a brightly lighted room : gg, you're supposed to get an end screen... but you won't because of some unknown reason. For an other unknown reason you sometime get stuck in the wall or the ground : again, very sorry.

(the cover image is from the level as seen from Blender, before Unity did what I can only describe as "something the Geneva Convention should have banned", it's technically not "in the game" per say but hey, I made it, it's probably the only thing about this that I'm proud of so I'm using it !)

Nice twist on the theme and I do like your character art, your game is sadly hamstrung by its controls and camera bugs. I got stuck a few times where I think I got control of a body, but the camera kept focusing on the exit. I can see where you are going for and would have liked to play it properly.

Just as a tip, you are allowed to fix your controls (and other game breaking bugs) after the deadline as per the rules.

@ghostonline : Thank you very much ! I'm gonna go fix the controls, for the camera I think it would be a little bit too much work (I already tried to make it work the way I wanted a lot and couldn't) but I can at least change a few variable.

Qwerty version will be available as soon as unity connect accepts to post it !

@bloodpulpgames : It's in azerty (zqsd instead of wasd), the qwerty version should come soon-ish (?), I'm using unity-connect and they've gone to human checks because of how many uploads they got... so the gameplay is : you are the "spirit", you can click on people to possess them and you move the guy you're possessing by using q and d, you can go up "elevators" with z and s, you're supposed to get to the overly-brightly room as it's in another building and therefore if you get there you managed to "free" yourself !

Very hard to play on a QWERTZ keyboard xD I unforunatly did not made it far :/ But you showed me that I can upload games directly to Unity?! I like the Rig and walk animation and that you worked with different colour lights, unfortunately I could not make it work really to play. Hope you fix it and I can come back :)

@bloham When you say you could not make it work, what do you mean ? Is it just control issues, camera issues or something else ? I've missclicked trying to reupload the qwerty version and now the link points to it and the azerty version has vanished... well nobody would have required it anyway so, at least, controls are fixed !

I'm a litte confused as to how to play the game? Perhaps some form of tutorial at the beginning?

@tednesday : The first room kinda works like one, but without any indication it probably fails. You can click on NPCs to possess them and move around. Sadly there's not much more and even this barely works, but at least there's that ^^.
