I hope the score did go up by more than one because I gave the game pretty high scores.
Anyway, for the game itself, the game is nice and well fitted with the theme, I like the concept! The models are nice and the sound effects are good too, but I had some issues with the game so here there are other suggestions of how to make your game better:
- The inverted pitch is nice for the joystick feel but it really makes the game so much more frustrating for no reason, flip it back!
- It's kind of hard to navigate in the world, I sometimes didn't know where the core is. The core being the main light source helps a lot but a minimap would be cool :)
- Balance the game, it's really easy to lose control and die, maybe a wave-based system would be better
- I think you should add a high score system so it will make the player more interested in the game
Hope I helped! :)
Though the mouse sense is crazy high dude, I had to put my computer settings to the absolute lowest to be able to hit anything at all. But maybe I'm not really the FPS-y kind.
In the beginning there is nothing to hit, then there is suddenly a big starfleet trying to kill your precious egg/core/thing, I found that a bit funny and stressful (in a good way!), even though it felt quite impossible to beat.
For one, the inverted mouse just felt frustrating and awkward. I can see why you might have done it to more emulate jet controls, but with the rest of the controls being more like a shooter, it doesn't feel right...
Two, The game kinda throws everything at you right at the beginning. I feel like the difficulty needs to start lower and ramp up.
Lastly, making the enemies not fly in a straight line might give some more variety and interesting challenges to the player.
All in all, its still a great game. Great job! :)
I think the shooting could have felt more impactful. Some sort of shake/sound/particle effects when you hit would be nice. The bullets could probably travel faster.
👍nice job
Also, maybe increase the time to get to a full stop from releasing forward could make it feel more like space.
Besides that, I really enjoyed it. The full movement in every direction gives such a spacious feeling, it reminds me of games as Omega Boost.
As others have already mentioned, the inverted pitch doesn't really work here. If you think it should remain in the game, perhaps you could have some sort of toggle to reverse it?
As for the difficulty level, it feels pretty high. Perhaps instead of spawning a large group of enemies at once you could either start with a smaller wave, or make that group spawn over time?
It's an overall good entry to the compo. Well done! ;)
Visual style is good. Gameplay is solid. Theme on point. I can tell you gave it your best effort, so good job. GG!
