This game is fantastic; it's an absolutely stunning piece of work all round, the narrative, graphics, audio and rhythmic gameplay work together so amazingly well. I have no major negative feedback really, besides minor technical bug - some of the text formatting for things like bold/emphasised text stops working while a new tag is being parsed. Other than that though, this is brilliant, well done.

Nice game! I especially love the storytelling and art style, the gameplay was fun, too. The controls were simple but even though it turned out to be a very stressful game.

Sadly I would have hoped that my decisions had more influence on the story. To me it felt like there was no actual influence.

美术和文本量太赞了,游戏性方面,对于是否判定到了正确时机,没有明确的反馈感觉有点奇怪。压力到后面是越来越大了,估计就是要传达这种感受吧,挺棒的。

I like the art and the music! 要在短时间里读大量文字并且做困难的决策,非常有意思和紧张。

@spectralcascade Thanks for playing! The problem of hypertext has been fixed in the latest version, although it is quite cool in a sense

Love the Music and art style! But after I died once, when I restart the game, I can not choose the decisions anymore, the only thing I can do is watching my heart beat gone away. I'm not sure if it's a bug or it's the game style that I only have one life.

Wow, the production quality - graphics, audio, presentation, the whole bit - was way better than anything I expect from a jam game. Biggest immediate issue was the bug that stopped text from rolling after attempting to play the game a second time.

The concept was fantastic but the execution was questionable in some ways. It was frustrating having to cut through irrelevant filler text before getting to the important stuff. I particularly disagreed with the attempts at humor, which I found to both be in poor taste and to significantly detract from the epic mood that you had just worked so hard to set. Like, you successfully constructed one of the most somber and stressful moods of any game in the entire jam... and so you decided to suddenly weave in a joke about pornographic emails??

Overall I still loved the game, great presentation and an awesome unique concept.

Amazing game! Wow it look so very cool! Awesome graphics, art, sounds and mood, love it! Nice touch with the heartbeat. I somehow completed the game in my second try successfully.
You made all the art for it? The drawings etc?

Also, as a side note, after i lost in my first try i tried playing again but the secretary wasn't reading out the questions, so i restarted the game and it worked.

Best use of theme I've seen yet for a jam entry! Great art and sound. Gameplay is a little awkward, but that seems to be by design. Had to click through to get the final "end game" scenes, which wasn't specifically prompted but seemed to work okay. Looks like The HeartBeat is one of Ludum Dare #46's best in show for the Jam.

One of the best I've played so far. Very topical too. I loved the music, it kept me engrossed, also really really liked the artwork. The story was too heavy and dialogue too but that's fine maybe. Keep it up!

This game creates a crazy tension atmosphere with the music the beat and making big decision regarding your city. Excellent job guys, you nailed the theme!

Love the artwork you've done on this! Incredibly detailed scenes. Brilliant concept too, having to make swift political decisions while maintaining your heartbeat. It definitely helped that the music went in beat to your heartrate, although I feel the music should at least loop instead of abruptly going silent.

The visuals and audio were superb in this game, the audio in particular really helped get me into the rhythm aspect of the game play. I did find myself skipping large sections of the text to keep myself focused on staying alive for longer, which I guess was the point but it made me care less about the outcome of the plot, I just wanted to live for as long as possible. That said, the idea to make the rhythm tied to your life was genius and I was enamoured to the mechanic instantly.

A very interesting concept, and some really incredible artwork and music! This entry is certainly up at the very top of the list when it comes to audiovisual prowess and mood.

It was clear that the huge amounts of filler text was part of the intended gameplay, to really drive home the stress, but it might have still been a bit too much. Granted, I did enjoy the tension it created, but some of the written content did feel a bit "artificially lengthy", if that makes sense.

In any case, this was great. Amazing work!

A really good one , the art style is just gorgeous ! But I think there is too much text, i can't have time to read , and they talk to say nothing really interesting , we don't know if our choice has an impact. But it's a good game !

Masterpiece. The quality of this game is incredible high. The graphics, the UI interface, narrative, two languages support, all of them are polished well. It exceeds my any expection for a Jam title. Good job man, I have inspired much from this game.

The art is very well done, and the mechanic worked very well to create the atmosphere of emergency. The heart beat being synchronized to the music is a nice touch. The writing is good, including the most certainly considered decision to make it filler-heavy. All in all, this is definitely an excellent jam game in terms of production value. Great job getting it finished!

Wow, honestly Im very impressed, this was great! It goes without saying that the art here is really really well done, so congrats there. The music is also done exceptionally, it adds to the stress and the rhythmic sounds of the heartbeat are great too. Even the visual distortion when you press the heartbeat is really cool. The idea of having to focus on difficult and confusing paragraphs and make tough decisions while beating your own heart is really unique and cool. I wish it started off a bit easier with some shorter paragraphs and easier decisions to ramp you into the idea of what youre doing and then from there really make it confusing. But otherwise awesome job!

A seriously strong effort all around, I can tell that every member of this team is top notch. If I had to offer any criticism, the actual gameplay seems to be the weakest part. To me it seemed mostly like a guessing game, but I also didn't play for very long, so I may just not get it. You guys are clearly way beyond having to take criticism from me, anyway, keep up the good work.

Looks like a nice concept for big animation movie. Character design is really amazing. Like neon futuristic colours, and some webpunk and retrowave vibe.

This was amazing and enraging at the same time. ;)
The graphics were absolutely outstanding, the music was perfect and I can't believe what you managed to do by yourself in mere 3 days, wow!
the idea is refreshing and cool, the storymode was awesome, together with the artstyle and music the mood was simply perfect. Such a good job.
I'm impressed how you can come up with a storyline like that in 3 days! No wonder you're from a continent that comes up with 92834602394 great mangas/animes every year ^^
But FOR F***CKs sake, this is too hard, man!!!! ^^
Please realize the fact that non-Asian people's brains are way slower than yours xD just kidding. Sorry for the "positive racism" here. Still, it reaaaaally was too fast to grasp everything AND keep yourself alive, I feel like you could have divided some texts into 2 or 3 chunks of info instead of one :3 oooor summarize the whole paragraph at the bottom, or at every choice make a summary of what the effects are of that said choice :)
Bottom line is: I'M A PERSON WHO WANTS TO READ EVERYTHING AND I COULDN'T! xD >o<
What you definitely managed was giving me and adrenaline rush, haha.
UI and interface also felt really polished btw. Such a great work, truly impressive! <3
