Foolish Me: A Metroidvania Puzzle-Platformer in three parts.

There are loops that loop. And loops that do not.

There are loops that are too big to see.

And there are loops that you can't come back from.

Controls - Controller (Recommended!)

Move: D-Pad

Jump: A (or X for Playstation controller)

Others explained in-game

Controls - Keyboard

Move: A/D or arrow keys

Jump: Space or W

Others explained in-game.

Please note that some keyboards can only handle a few inputs from letter keys at a time - if this is an issue, use the arrow keys for movement instead of W/A/D.

really liked the game and the mechanics good work!

Fun puzzle-platformer! Really liked the magnetic mechanic - very creative and makes for some great Metroidvania style progression. The simple foreground and complex backgrounds complement each other well. As you gain more colors, I felt the controls got a little trickier and it was harder to keep track while completing sections that require color switching. Fingers were all over the keyboard and I kept wanting to press "Y" for "Yellow."

@politecoy glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

@fc85057 really glad you enjoyed it, and thank you muchly for the feedback! Yes, we weren't super happy with the controls and I agree they are a bit fiddly / confusing, with respect to either colour names or colour buttons on a controller (which are _almost_ right!)
We actually made a (very literal) 11th our change from cycling between colours to switching directly to make it a bit more playable so we didn't have a huge amount of time to polish it -- I think my next move would be to just show them in the HUD to remind the player, but any other ideas are muchly welcome!

It is a very nice one, I like the mecanics :) I didn't understood where was the loop but the result is very enjoyable. I like the minimalist graphismes too.
Nice work and thanks for the game ;)

This was SUPER fun. Also SUPER frustrating but that was the appeal for me. I probably spent an hour just going through it and still didn't beat it. I hope you all develop this into something more and tighten up some of the physics a bit more. It has a TUN of potential!

I had to play with keyboard, but it was really enjoyable! Unfortunately I did not get past the "third" section where you had to alternate Green, Yellow, Green, Yellow into a Green "launcher". More than once it felt like I was being pulled to the wrong magnets (e.g. I'm on the last yellow, switch to green, and somehow end up being pulled/slung towards the green closest to the floor). It might just have been a fast chain reaction swinging me down there, but it was so fast I couldn't tell.

Love the idea, but controls need some polish to make it work well. L and Y are not the best options for control keys on keyboard. I really enjoyed level design, that green vertical chain of magnets that elevates you was really surprizing. Good work :)

Wow a surprising amount of mechanics and content in this game. I found it really fun and didn't expect the swinging mechanic. I also noticed that you used Godot to make it. Didn't really see how it was relevant to the theme but awesome game regardless. Had quite a lot of depth to it.

Liked the game! :D

Nice idea! I found it quite difficult and "grindy" on a keyboard. The keys for the colors and magnets were not intuitive and it was difficult to properly control the magnet platforms unless you weren't standing on them which then requires great precision.

It seems like an good idea. But found it difficult to control using keyboard.

This game is a lot of fun! Very challenging but that's how I like them too. Playing on the controller is very intuitive. I got stuck at this point though. As I don't have PS or XBOX controller, then the controls instructions are messed up and R2 is the only button I couldn't find. Keyboard doesn't work at this point for some reason. What am I supposed to do here? ![Screenshot 2020-10-10 183707.png](///raw/35e/11/z/39eb8.png)

@mykola aha! You have taken a wrong turn there -- notice how the magnets are now deactivated, so you can't go that way. There is another. Hope you can figure it out and enjoy the rest, there are are more challenges ahead :)

What kind of controller are you using? I only really tested with an Xbox controller, but I'm aware that other controllers don't seem to get mapped very well using the Godot control mapping :(

This was a fun one! Great platformer with interesting mechanics. The magnets/color changing works well but I definitely found it tough with a keyboard. Controls are responsive, but as mentioned, a controller is certainly ideal. The pixel work looks great and the parallax backgrounds are awesome. Also enjoyed the mood set by the music. Great submission!

I'm a sucker for 2d parallax backgrounds and you nailed that! Unfortunately I got physically stuck here and couldn't move any more. Even the magnets couldn't move the platform any more. :pensive:

@joonamo thanks for reporting that! Yeah, some of our friends have hit that issue and we haven't got a fix for it yet -- I think it only happens on that one puzzle right at the start of the game so hopefully doesn't ruin a more progressed run, but we'll try to get a fix out for that sometime soon...

(or an achievement :) )

Update: We've adjusted the first puzzle slightly so you shouldn't be able to get physically stuck anymore.

We've also added B as another key that can be used for magnets, which hopefully makes it a bit easier to control depending on your keyboard layout!

Very interesting mechanics. I couldn't really get were the loop was but anyway. The graphics were solid and the gameplay made fun :D But the audio, it drove me crazy after 3-4 minutes :D

The controls are a little too difficult for me, but the magnet mechanic is very satisfying to use. I would love to see a more polished version of this game!

The atmosphere is nice and mechanic interesting. Cool pixel art. Music would be nice if it wasn't sooo repetitive. The system of moving platform with lines is interesting, but I find it a bit frustrating with the movements and the gravity of the character. And I would say that there's perhaps too much keys to use. But it's really a good concept that could be a nice game with some polish.
