Radiohead by Sausty

[raw]
made by Sausty for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

LogoLudum.png Radiohead is a runner where you play a 14 year old kid, going around in the streets with his radio. But his battery sucks. Play minigames to recharge the batteries!

_Controls :_ Keyboard is needed. You also will need a mouse, as well as a fast brain ;)

This game is based on reaction speed. Good luck and have fun!

Nice game! Really liked your gameplay loop and the microgames.

Original concept. The graphics are nice in their pixel-fashion way.
The running kid adds some rythm to a game that is basically a sequence of static screens, which is a good idea.
The enigmas are strangely not really random (several times the same kind), in the long run it could be nice to have more of them (unless some new ones appears at enigma 100 ?!)
Good work !

Honestly a very good game. I know in wich conditions it has been done and maybe it's becaues I know you but I'm really proud of you guys.

The game is pretty juicy visualy and I love how the music slows down when you get out of juice. It is a very clear way to give feedback on how you're doing through audio. But I feel like the game with a little bit more could have been perfect.

The two things to me that it lacks is more feedback. Make an energy sound when you pick up a battery ! If you fail make an error sound, everytime you press something make a little sound to let know that the player is doing something.

Also I would have done the time in a reverse fashion. Instead of having seconds to hold that goes down all the time. Between doors I would have make so the battery power doesn't lower and it lower faster and faster between each mini game so you can keep people on nerve. They have to be more efficient faster and with the great music and the momentum of your character with the sparkly and colorful graphics, it would have been awesome.

But I understand that time constraint can get in the way of all of that.

So good job and great game. I actualy played a lot and I think this one is amongst the better ones haha

This game is literally nerves killer for people with bad reaction speed (me). However it's pretty fun to play, several mini games mechanics add satisfying tempo to the game. Also I like how music speed indicates the amount of time left - really helpful, especially under the circumstances of the real hurry.

Hey! I really enjoyed the Game. It has simple but (!) different Actions. It has humor. Keep on going!

Thank you guys for all your feedback! This is our first Jam, and we haven't been able to implement all our ideas, but if you like the game, it's really cool!

I really enjoyed the game, I didn't expect the minigame format at all when I first started playing. I really like the audio effect of the audio slowing down when your battery gets depleted.

Really cool take on the theme and I had a lot of fun playing through it a few time :D The mini games were stressful but rewarding and the music worked really well. Nice graphics too. Good job peeps!

@masterpose we did inspire ourselves from warioware! I'm a big fan of twisted, so i had to do some little references :p

Awesome game, I reached 29! My only real issue was on the password game, I got 34O9, but the font doesn't differentiate between zero and the letter O, so I typed it wrong. Maybe if the letters were in lower case that would've been easier to catch. I must say though, I am super impressed by the difficulty of the game! I was constantly on the edge of my seat, numerous times I was thinking I wouldn't make it, but then I made it by a fraction of a second, which felt soooo good. Awesome game and premise, it was heaps of fun to try and optimise my score!

@justcamh Thanks for your feedback ! Actually, we know the issue , tthat's why the 0 is different from O because it has a small bar. But, actually i know that the game is stressful and that it complicates the task.

@suika343 We did inspire ourselves from WarioWare! As i said earlier, i'm a big fan of twisted, but because of the missing time and graphics, we couldn't do better that 4 minigames compared to the enormous 223 minigames WarioWare Twisted has to offer :p Thanks for your feedback!

I really liked this game, the way you chose to go when the theme is super original, the minigames are fun, and you never rest in that game. The graphics and the audio are good.

Good job! :)

This was fun! It had a real sense of urgency that kept my attention and the music was great too, especially for the main menu. Having all the mini-games was pretty ambitious for a first game jam, but you pulled it off!

That was a pretty cool game. The music is good and i like the extra polish of how it slows down when battery is going down. It kinda gets annoying the way it sounds when you're stuck in slow down music though. That's nice how you have little mini games within the game. good job and thanks for sharing!

This game FEELS a lot like Dumb ways to die and feels just as good! You guy did awesome with this. Art felt a little repetitive, but fine nonetheless. Progression felt fair and normal (which many games struggled to do in this jam). I definitely had fun with this one.

High score: Round 15

Wow I'm really impressed, it reminded me a lot of WarioWare, and that's cool !
The minigames were fun, even if they were limited in term of numbers.

I liked a lot the fact that the music slows down when we are low life, but I think that if you add a visual effect with that slowdown, it would make a great combination !

Overall good work !

@edalbung The game needs more wario. What if at 100 minigames the character transformes into Radioman? Would've been nice :p

That was super fun ! And it took me a while to understand some minigames with the stress ^^.
Love the funky music (and everyone told you already but slowing the music down was super smart, especially since the music still sounds great)
Best combination was something like fly / type a passeword, because I had to switch from focusin on my mouse to focusing on the letters of my keyboard.
Add this kind of variety if you put more minigames would be nice (like use some combinations of arrows, the mouse weel etc.)

@hornicar Thank you! In the beginning, we had 20 mini-game ideas. But we decided to create a game with 100% finished mini-games, and work on all the details, including the music with the volume turned down.
I'm proud that you've noticed that the goal is to stress the player, because he can't prepare his hands in advance of the mini game, relying on the variety of combinations. We have 4 mini-games that are each unique: writing, aiming, speed and timing.

Really liked the variety of the minigames and the fact that they actually get harder over time. Also, the visual aesthetic really makes the game stand out. Overall, nice game!

Nice graphics and sound, and the minigames were pretty well balanced. I suppose it would have been nice to have a few more, but considering this was for a jam it was pretty good.
