Another f****ng escort mission by dodormeur
This is my participation for the ld46 :D
In this game, you must escort one of the worst NPC... Will you be able to keep your sanity alive ?
This game was made in 48h for the ludum dare 46, even the mouth-crafted sound effects (I think this explains the quality of the sound effects).
Controls
- wasd/zqsd to move
- mouse to aim
- right click to aim, release to fire an arrow
- space/enter to validate in menu and advance in the dialogues
The small red circle around the NPC indicate the zone of danger, if a monster get into this zone, the NPC will kinda insult you, resulting in your character getting angrier. The larger orange circle is for clarity, allowing you to easily differentiate living monsters and corpse.

For the score, here are the values :

The combination between distanced and close combat is very cool.
@furfel if you want to add your voice, you can download the project on itch.io, and override the sound tracks in sounds/danger, they are the lines of the NPC ;) (you can also override the dying folder, those are the sound the monsters make while dying, and kills are the double/triple/etc kills). To start the game then, just open the index.html file :)

Very funny. I really like the mood you chose, all the tiny references and jokes. I'm impressed by the quality AND quantity of content you integrated in such a short time. Music and sound design work really well with the tone too !
Gameplay is very straight forward but not less effective, and the close combat system is a smart way to implement more possibilities in a 2 days home made game =)
It is quite tense to keep monsters away, but knowing that we're gonna get insulted if we don't manage to do it is much more motivating that i would have expected haha (I guess it would not be so fun if the game was taking it more seriously ^^).
I didn't manage to end the game yet (if there is an end) but knowing that we killed that impudent prince when we lose is kinda relaxing even if we've lost (is that a socially acceptable feeling ?... Wait, not sure I wish to hear the answer x) )
I'm curious to know : What technologies did you use to develop it ?
This is my go-to language for game jam, it's a bit dirty code but I know it well and can quickly make prototypes with it :) (and for the recording and drawings, audacity/gimp/synthfont, I really wanted to test my new shinny microphone :D )
There is an end, after two level (the first one of 60 seconds and the second of 90 seconds), and don't worry about killing the prince, everything will be clear once you get to the end :p
handled every single elements in game on short period of time is hard, but you manage them well here. even the art is cute i think. really enjoyed the game, nice work :thumbsup:
