Nice game! Interesting story and the art is just really polished. You nailed the gameboy rpg style. One thing that kinda felt weird is that horizontal inputs have priority over vertical inputs. But that is just a minor point overall. Good job!

Just starting this reminded me of the nostalgia from playing Pokémon Red back in the day, graphics are great. I love that you managed to fit the theme around a real life event and executed it respectfully too.

very nice visually, interesting story. would've been nice to have more things to do but for conveying the story you wanted to get in, very nice work.

Truly astonishing. The art is glorious and the story was touching. The sheer amount of content in the game blew me away. Great job!

The game really lacks music. Excellent color scheme. I would have played this game on the old screen.
I did not immediately understand how to get out on the street)

What a fantastic game! Good aesthetic, the storytelling is there, and the pacing seems about right. All it needs now is a bangin' soundtrack!

Whoa, super impressive for a solo entry! Really enjoyed playing a game centering so much on a story, I feel like that's unusual for Ludum Dare games. Love the art style and the writing. Had to smile about the plant that fell over during the earthquake. :P

I feel like a very soft "speech" sound when the text advances would help make it feel more juicy! Some characters stayed on top of the dialog boxes, like the person guarding the hillside building.

@blinry thanks for your feedback :)
I would have loved to add speech sounds, I couldn't find a way to do that with gb studio, I might take a look how hard adding something like that would be, it'd be neat to have that as a feature.
I unfortunately only discovered the dialog box issue when I had already drawn the backgrounds and was running out of time
