Feast of blood by DanilShekarev

[raw]
made by DanilShekarev for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

The game was made in 56 hours. All the art, music, and code were made from scratch.

In a world where all the vampires were exterminated, you were one of the few bloodsuckers who could escape punishment. Now you have to survive in a harsh world where everything is set against you. How long can you hold out? Visiting the night city, you will have to drink the blood of its inhabitants and carefully hide the traces of their crimes in all possible ways. Hide in the back streets waiting for the victim, or merge with the crowd of ordinary people? You decide. The main thing is not to reveal your true identity, because the guards are always on the alert.

Nice mood and sound/visual, the gameplay is interesting as well, it could be fun with some tweaks. Not a fan of seeing "this guy had the idea", especially in jams

Nice game! I really liked the tutorial. It's something thats easily left out, but without it I think the game would have been hard to play without it. Nice consistent visuals and mood, great job!.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that the game is not perfect but we tried to achieve all the gameplay that we came up with. We also know about all the bugs in the game. If there is time we will release a stable version out of competition so that you can enjoy the game.

Hey! Really love the game! A bit hard if you don't know about hiding bodies but anyway :)
Nice sounds!!!! Nice graphics!
Really good job!

Cool idea, although I had trouble with the game. I thought I was behind people, but pressing E didn't seem to work except for one time. Really like the mood you established, although I actually found it to be a bit too dark on my screen.

Would've been nice to get some kind visual feedback to make it more obvious when you are carrying a person. The tutorial is really nice, glad its not just text. The game is fun. Well done for making this!

I can't believe all this quality art was made in just a few days hats off your team, they did a fantastic job. The game has a nice atmosphere and music as well.

I really love this idea. I'm a huge fan of stealth games and survival games and free-form games. This definitely scratches all those itches. The controls are a bit rough, initiating blood sucking was difficult to do sometimes, and picking up bodies and interaction wasn't always responsive. It was also hard to tell I was taking damage. Overall, especially for a jam, this is an excellent entry!

This idea was really good, and im really impressed with the end result, but i seemed to get the alarm raised EVERY time i killed someone, even if i hid their body, i dont know what im doing wrong! Tutorial was helpful and other then the constant losing its a great game!

Really fun and challenging game! Once I began to understand how everything worked I really enjoyed it. Such unique gameplay, and definitely can't go wrong with pixel art. Also loved seeing all of those references all over the place as graffiti.

I did have a bit of a problem with escaping the first couple of times - I would get to the exit and press "E", but then nothing would happen and I would just run out of health. The last couple of times I played though it worked.

Really fun though! Good job!

You have a nice game here! It's fun to sneak around and be a smart vampire. The concept is really nice and it could use some polishing such as an indicator of your range or if you've picked something up. Also for some reason my suspicion skyrockets at times and there doesn't seem to be a way to reduce this?

I used the web version and it might have been a bit buggy at times.

It's very cool that you found the references in our game!

@lykawolfie Suspicion can be reduced by sitting on a bench. You also need to beware of large glass cases without light, they strongly raise suspicion, because vampires are not reflected in mirrors.

I loved the game, great concept and really well designed mechanics, only two things that I had problems with:
1. It is really dark and even with my brightness on full I couldn't easily see
2. The pause/restart menu in the tutorial wasn't working

I'm not the first to tell you that, but the brightness level is way too low.
Not everyone has quality screens with high contrast, beware !
The controls are not easy, but with some improvements it could actually be fun !

Good idea, cool art and cool light shaders in game. For some reason this game looked to me reminiscent to Hotline Miami but in slow paced mode. And it was very cruel to let player die in tutorial  :spider: :new_moon_with_face:

Really awesome mood and atmosphere, the lighting works really well and makes you feel like a creepy monster hiding in the dark I love it! Gameplay is a bit confusing, it seems I get spot whatever I do, even if you are in the dark people see you?

I really liked the atmospheric mood of this game, and I also though that visuals were great! I especially liked the blood effect! Overall, this is a really good jam entry!

Wow, you really got a lot done in this short of a time frame! I am impressed by the size and quality of your graphics, audio and game mechanic range! Also this game is really hard!

The graphics are nice pixel art, really great atmosphere, the lighting is used well and very clear to understand. Everything is very clear, I think I know the right strategy but I cannot seem to execute it :-)

I like the little references, like Nelson from the Simpsons or that shooty guy from that old video game.

The music is cool and the fact that you switch to the hectic music once I get spotted is really good. I have immediate feedback on all channels and can hurry up to get out of that city.

I wish I had more view radius. It feels like random luck whether I will be spotted or not. Some people come out of their houses sometimes and I am spotted by them. Then other times I do not see anybody else on my screen and still the alarm goes off. This makes it feel rather unfair and that is also why I stopped playing after about 15 tries. I wanted to do it but I cannot get better at it. That is a pity, your game is really cool!

Overall a really good game, great work for a LD!

Interesting idea! I liked the art, music, and lighting! They really helped to set the atmosphere of the game. I had an issue where after hiding a victim I couldn't find anymore (maybe it was just me?). Good job!

Good game! I like the idea of having UV light and normal light :D Sometimes drinking blood doesn't seem to refill health. Compliments on the music and also that it changes, when you get detected. Well done!
