DEBUGGER by randomnine

Bugs are attacking your handheld! Take control of a tiny soldier inside it and get to work. Protect the batteries that keep the system alive, or it's game over...

  • ARROW KEYS: move
  • X: fire
  • Z: jump

Bugs infest various parts of the system. They can cause all kinds of problems. Shoot them or jump on top of them to finish them off.

If a bug infests one of your buttons, you might have to hammer the button to free it up.

Nice! love the idea, but the bugs affecting your movement feels tedious. Still love the concept, good luck!

This game was so cool. i loved the fact that the bugs attacking the buttons stopped the buttons on your keyboard from working. Very creative. I live this game!

This is solid design; you stuck to a great theme, the music was well-chosen, the controls and gameplay were well-executed. The fast retry was a welcome surprise.

Very cute and fun game.

I love the graphios!

The sounds and music were spot on.

My only improvement suggestion is to give a little bit of coyote time to make jumping to the higher layers easier.

This is a great idea, well executed, smart, and every design feature exists on multiple levels. Recontextualizing the controls as both a way to control the player *and* a physical asset to fight back bugs via mashing is brilliant. Please expand this!

The game had a really unified theme that worked well with the music, the art, and the gameplay. My only complaint were the controls and the player movement felt a little slippery. Other than that good job :)

This game is nostalgic for retro fans. An amazing concept without any bug or fix needed, which was impressive within our time limit. Graphic plays out really smoothly with music including controls. Giving provided checkpoint for noobs like myself, who needed it throughout the wave. a unique feature that debugs creature preventing the action of your character movement and making it harder to defend, was an amazing idea. please keep it up! big fan

Good job with the game. It was really fun to play and I like how the bugs would temparaly disable the buttons. Also crawling around on the screen was pretty cool.

I love the graphics for this game. It reminds me of the GameBoy and all the amazing games I used to play on that thing during elementary school. The solid control scheme as well as having plenty of visual and audio feedback is extremely impressive for a game jam. Really nice work!

I really liked the concept of the game and the artstyle. I beat the game on the first try and none of my inputs broke down, I found it a bit too easy. It might be cool to force some input to stop working at some point. It's a solid game overall. Good job!

This game is incredible! Such a great idea and execution. Best LD46 game I played so far. The infinite screen effect, the "virtual bugs" attacking real physical inputs, just amazing.

Oh man, the gif on this game looks really cool but the download for the windows build seems to be broken. :(

Finally got the download to work and the game was pretty fun! That last wave gave me a bit of trouble, and I never really understood how the screen mechanic worked but I managed to get through it.
